#4: Boardwalk Wrestling: Welcome to Beachwood
June 18, 2000
Tonight's card includes a 4 team tournament for the Women's Beachwood Tag Team Titles, the long awaited in ring premiere of the California duo, and a heavyweight title defence by The Jersey Devil against a special guest; hardcore legend the Kutlu Warrior.
Opening Bout
Beachwood Tag Team Title Tournament Semi-Finals
Samantha Mitchell 5'6 135 lbs., Bronx, NY & Kali Collins 5'7 130 lbs., Brooklyn, NY (/w Camila Ortiz) (students)
vs
Maya Alvarez 5'8 140 lbs., Miami, FL & Emily Adams 5'8 140 lbs., Hoboken, NJ (students)
The girls from the stoop isolated the ultimate Underdog Adams early on, and when they needed it Ortiz was there for interference. Alvarez cleaned up though on the hot tag, and Ortiz screwed up lowering the top rope so it was Collins who went to the floor instead of Alvarez when a whip was reversed. Adams took Ortiz out while Alvarez nailed a flying forearm smash to get the duke.
Maya Alvarez & Emily Adams defeated Samantha Mitchell & Kali Collins by pinfall when Alvarez pinned Mitchell after a flying forearm smash at 6:21
Interview:
Chinga, the last of the female students to have a match (she has not premiered yet) was interviewed next. At 5'10 180 lbs, not only is this African-American athlete the biggest of the female students, she is also the biggest of all the female competitors. She is fit, athletic, and has a voodoo type of gimmick going. She is from Brooklyn, New York, which is a well known epicentre for voodoo practitioners. She assures everyone that she is not going to curse anyone, or make anyone vomit from a hospital bed, but...before she could go further she was interrupted by Sophia Torres and Rottweiler Reynolds who want to get their match started. Rottweiler and Chinga go face to face, but its two on one but Chinga just holds her ground in the stare down. Yanai and Jupiter showed up next to start their bout so Chinga was ushered out of the ring by the ref. Chinga did not look happy.
Bout #2
Beachwood Tag Team Title Tournament Semi-Finals
Shizu Yanai 5'5 120 lbs, Yokahoma, Japan (veteran) & Cian Jupiter 5'7 135 lbs., New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada (student)
vs
Sophia Torres 5'6 135 lbs., Austin, TX (student) & Rottweiler Reynolds 5'6 125 lbs., Philadelphia, PA (student)
Yanai was the most experienced and talented wrestler in the bout, but her partner Jupiter was the weakest link. Rottweiler continued to show some real raw intensity. Torres and Ryenolds used lots of double teams but at times Rottweiler didn't listen to her partner and acted like a lone wolf. Reynolds won the bout with an inverted powerslam into the turnbuckle.
Sophia Torres & Rottweiler Reynolds defeated Shizu Yanai & Cian Jupiter by pinfall when Reynolds pinned Jupiter after an inverted powerslam into the turnbuckle at 7:19
Interview:
We are told we are going to get interviews with the last 3 remaining healthy male student wrestlers tonight and they would all be making their first in-ring appearances next week.
First up was Malik Raymond. He is 6'2 210 lbs. out of Brooklyn. It's obvious he has athletic talent but not very good mic skills, so the interview is fairly short. Raymond's background is in boxing and mixed martial arts, and he has some powerful striking ability.
Bout #3
Juni Shiotani 6’0, 232 lbs., Tokyo, Japan (veteran) vs. Daniel "Iron Fist" Anderson 6'0 200 lbs., Jersey City, NJ (student)
Anderson was pissed off after his tag loss last week with Bayonet Henderson, and he started the bout with a bang attacking the veteran before the opening bell. He got in a couple good minutes of action but missed a flying fist drop and Shiotani pounced, going after the arm.
Juni Shiotani defeated Daniel Anderson by submission to the Kimura 5:40
Interview:
The world famous, or maybe infamous would be a better term, the Kutlu Warrior, Jonnie Stewart comes to the ring. This 15 year veteran of wrestling was best known as the kayfabe nephew of Roddy Piper, but made his own name in the most vicious, hardcore wrestling companies starting in Southeast Asia. He then started to appear regularly in North America as a special attraction. He comes to the ring with his face painted red, black, and white and wearing a long trench coat. He carries his customary Singapore cane. He doesn't have much to say, just that he is here to take down another hardcore pretender. He understands the fans may hate the Jersey Devil, but himself, he has no feelings toward the man. He's just another foe who wants to hurt him, another man who he will need to inflict more punishment to than he receives from him. No, he doesn't hate him right now, but once that first punch lands, he will hate him with every ounce of emotion in his body. And then he will end him.
Bout #4
Finnegan O'Sullivan 6'1 225 lbs., Crescent Beach, CA & Brodie MacLeod 6'2 240 lbs., Crescent Beach, CA (students)
vs
Paul Ledbetter 6'3 245 lbs. Coral Springs, FL (veteran) & Xavier Foster 6'3 240 lbs, Hempstead, NY (student)
The long awaited debut of the California duo. They started strong with quick tags and double teams. The heels though slowed things down first by complaining to the ref about phantom infractions and then ducking their opponents. Ledbetter took the bout over but it was short lived before the Californians battled back. Caleb Nguyen and Michael Sully came down to ringside to watch. Surprisingly this provided more of a distraction to the faces than the heels. Ledbetter bounced MacLeod throat first off the top cable and then hit an overhead belly to belly suplex. He covered, 1, Ledbetter put his feet on the bottom rope...Sully made as if to knock his feet off the ropes, but Nguyen put a hand on his shoulder to stop him...2..3.
Paul Ledbetter & Xavier Foster defeated Finnegan O'Sullivan & Brodie MacLeod by pinfall when Ledbetter pinned MacLeod after an overhead belly to belly suplex with his feet on the ropes at 6:09
Interview:
King Santana is the next rookie to get an introductory interview. Santana is 6'0 200 pounds from Union City, New Jersey and one day wants to be an exceptional mat wrestler, like his role models, Bret Hart, Curt Hennig, and Chris Benoit.
Bout #5
3 Way - Top Contender Match
Adrian Coffey 6’0 190 lbs., New York City, NY (student) (/w Sierra Johnson)
vs
El Jardinero 5’10 171 lbs., Juarez, Mexico (veteran)
vs
Ricky Rodriguez 5'11 180 lbs., Newark, NJ (student)
Boardwalk's first triple threat match with the winner to become the #1 contender for the King of the Boardwalk. Jardinero controlled the match early taking turns getting the better of Coffey, then of Rodriguez. Finally Coffey managed to convince Rodriguez to help him double team Jardinero (this came right after the two had been in a heated discussion outside the ring only to have Jardinero nail them both with a diving plancha). However, as expected Coffey soon turned on Rodriguez and almost pinned him after an inverted atomic drop and clothesline combo. He then locked in the STF but Jardinero broke it off coming off the top rope with a legdrop. He was going for the pin but Johnson jumped up on the apron. Jardinero decided to take care of her first but got tangled up with her. Coffey then got poised, waiting for Jardinero to turn around so he could unleash a superkick. However, Rodriguez struggled to his knees, right behind Coffey, and as Jardinero finally knocked Johnson off the ring apron and turned around, Coffey took a stutter step backward and fell over the back of Rodriguez. As Coffey got up he got nailed with flying headscissors as Jardinero used Rodriguez as a stepping stone. The veteran than rolled Rodriguez into an inside cradle for the win.
El Jardinero defeated Adrian Coffey and Ricky Rodriguez in a 3 way match when he pinned Rodriguez after an inside cradle at 7:06
Inteview:
The final of the student interviews tonight is with the diminutive Jordan Washington who comes in at 5'7 150 lbs from Queens, New York. He of course brings a high flying style to the ring, but hopes to separate himself from other high flyers by the way that he uses the ring ropes, buckles, and even his opponents or teammates as springboards and platforms. Washington says long before he was training to be a pro wrestler he was perfecting his acrobatic skills both in gymnastics as well as on obstacle courses, including urban obstacle courses. He gives a brief display of this skills but receives a luke warm response from the audience.
Bout #6
Beachwood Tag Team Title Tournament Final Match
Maya Alvarez 5'8 140 lbs., Miami, FL & Emily Adams 5'8 140 lbs., Hoboken, NJ (students)
vs
Sophia Torres 5'6 135 lbs., Austin, TX & Rottweiler Reynolds 5'6 125 lbs., Philadelphia, PA (students)
Some real serious heat in this one between first Alvarez and Torres and then Adams and Reynolds. This was Adams' best outing so far, fighting the toughness of the Rottweiler with a stick and move attack that saw her canine opponent huffing and puffing. Torres though got the advantage back and after a ref bump they were setting Adams up for a spiked piledriver. From the back came Chinga, still pissed at being cut off earlier in her interview, so she tossed Torres off the top rope. Alvarez and Adams then took their turn for a 2 on 1, with Alvarez throwing Adams off the top buckle for an assisted splash on Torres for the win. While that was happening Rottweiler had left the ring to chase down Chinga, and left her partner to take the loss.
Maya Alvarez & Emily Adams defeated Sophia Torres & Rottweiler Reynolds by pinfall after a Rocket Launcher at 8:34

Main Event
King of the Boardwalk Title Match
The Jersey Devil 5’10, 240 lbs. Parts unknown (champion) (veteran) vs. Kutlu Warrior 6'1 238 lbs., Singapore (guest/veteran)
Warrior wanted to use his Singapore cane right at the start but referee Dallas Saucier would not have it, and stepped in the way. However, this just allowed the Devil to reach out and punch Warrior in the head. The Devil went to work as Saucier got rid of the cane. This was a no holds barred brawl in and out of the ring. Nothing fancy here but the fans loved seeing these two veterans brutalize each other. Both men were busted open by the five minute mark, and then fought into the crowd. Saucier drew the line in the sand at not allowing the use of foreign objects but didn't bother to count them out of the ring. The end came when the Devil was removing a turnbuckle, so Kutlu left the ring and returned with his cane. Again Saucier wrestled the cane away but Kutlu who turned his back which allowed a low blow from the Devil. This was followed up by a slingshot suplex and a piledriver. The count by Saucier was a fairly fast 3 count, maybe because he was tired of the antics and wanted it just to end. After the bout the Warrior was pissed at the ref for a fast count and both the Devil and Saucier hit the road as fast as they could.
The Jersey Devil defeated Kutlu Warrior by pinfall after a piledriver at 11:54
[Jersey Devil retained the King of the Boardwalk Title]
Booking Notes:
Finnegan O'Sullivan got injured and will be out about 4 weeks.
Sierra Johnson has cooled on her role and has quit the wrestling business.
The idea to bring in an outside wrestler for the main event was suggested by ChatGPT, I used another fictional wrestler, Kutlu Warrior, from my RCW world that fit in nicely.
I had been shying away from doing 3-way or 4-way dances because it would be hard for students to pull that off without more experience but just had our first and it went okay.
The students are coming along but still need more experience. For fans they know its students, its like when you go to a student hairdresser or restaurant, it can be a bit of an adventure.
Adrian Coffey seemed like he was going to be the star student, but it's starting to look like Rottweiler Reynolds may take that crown away. She seems to have the It factor.
