Global Lock (2010-present)
60 min Drama
20th Century Fox Television Sopht Pictures Maple Star Entertainment
Two boys, polar opposites in so many ways, meet while serving in the invasion of Iraq. Despite their different upbringing and values they soon become the best of friends based largely on the one thing they have in common; they are both exceptional soldiers and leaders of men. Jayson has a heart of gold and small town values, but that doesn't stop his girlfriend from dumping him while he is serving his country. Rick served only for the experience, training, and contacts, his future lay state side. Upon his return he begins to transition into his Father's company, a private military contractor. Despite the rapid growth of the company "Teck Lock" Rick still feels his Father is too conservative and the time to strike is now as the industry is exploding with opportunity. And who better to help Rick with the transition then his infantry buddy Jayson? With nothing to lose and looking for a new start Jayson moves from his home in Tennessee to the large compound that Rick has just bought in northern Virginia for the company that he has now rebranded to "Global Locke" in step with his higher ambitions. However, soon Rick's brazen and even illegal activities soon rub Jayson the wrong way, but the only reason he stays is not loyalty to his infantry buddy but to his new father figure Clayton Locke (Rick's Father). Clayton soon begins to try and reel in his son, the last straw being the change of the family firm's name from "Locke" to "Lock".

1.02 - "Flash Back" Rick and Jayson share their story of military service with Rick's father Clayton Locke as well as a documentary film crew which is doing a piece on private military contractors. Rick goes behind his Father's back to take a meeting with a Saudi oil king, putting Jayson in a bind.
1.03 - "Branded" Rick is given operational control over the company by the family's board of directors against Clayton's wishes. Rick's first acts include taking the firm international by signing a security agreement in Saudi Arabia, and renaming the company "Global Lock". The board of directors and Clayton are not happy with the change from "Locke to Lock" taking away the family name, but due to the Saudi deal they have no more leverage. Clayton and his younger brother Sal come to Jayson privately and ask him to keep an eye on the legalitly of Rick's actions for the board; a request that goes against Jayson's beliefs.
1.04 - "Beware the Ides of March" Rick sends Sal overseas to Saudi Arabia to lead the security detail of the oil interests. Jayson begins to date a fiercly independent rancher named Angela. Rick begins to show signs of PTSD but refuses to accept anyone's help. In Saudi Arabia a terrorist attack on an oil rig leaves 6 Global Lock employees dead; including Uncle Sal.
1.05 - "Out to Pasture" Jayson takes a crew out to Saudi Arabia to investigate. At first Rick doesn't want to send Jayson but when he insists Rick can't say no. Angela has to put her favorite horse down and for once needs a shoulder to cry on. When Jayson isn't available she finds comfort and more with Rick. The news of Sal's death gives Clayton a health risk, and the board removes him from all day to day activities of the firm against his wishes. Jayson grows suspicious of the Saudi's.
1.06 - "Dante's Inferno" Jayson leans heavily on his second in charge Dante as his duties are spread too thin in Saudi Arabia. When the Saudi's run interference in his investigation Jayson pulls his entire crew and heads back to the states. Rick goes ballistic when Jayson returns saying it was not his business decision to make; to which Jayson retorts he is a soldier not a business man and his men come first. Rick demotes Jayson and gives a reluctant Dante his position in the firm. Jayson wants to quit the firm but Clayton begs him to stay for the sake of the family.
1.07 - "Manilla Envelope" Dante leads Jayson and a small crew to the Phillipines to execute a payoff to an outlaw group in exchange for an investment banker that they had kidnapped. The exchange goes well but back state side Jayson has cause to believe the kidnapping was faked to allow the flow of dirty money to the Outlaws without breaking US law. When Rick finds out about Jayson's side investigation he goes crazy; and then finally admits to symptoms of PTSD.
1.08 - "Fire Fight" Rick appears to go to counselling for PTSD but Jayson finds out it is a sham and he is not trying to get help. Rick gets violent with Angela after an argument. When he refuses to go she makes him; at the point of a shotgun.
1.10 - "London Calling" Jayson and Trina find out that Russ has been extradited to London where he is being held by MI5. Dante accompanies them to London where they get in the way of a terrorist cell investigation. Rick hires some thugs to burn down one of Angela's buildings, but when she tries to put the fire out herself she ends up in the hospital with smoke inhalation.
1.11 - "Mission" Jayson and Dante have to work with MI5 to salvage their investigation, putting themselves in harms way, while Trina and Russ are detained as collateral. Together they manage to bring down the terror cell but in doing so they reveal Russ' guilt, and its all they can do to negotiate Trina's freedom while Russ is whisked away. Clayton makes a bedside appeal to Rick as he watches over Angela to get help for his PTSD. Rick though takes it as a veiled threat and begins to politic his way to stronger control over the firm, at the expense of both Trina and Clayton.
1.12 - "Belize" As a result of their London work, MI5 outsources a project in Belize to Global Lock, but Rick doesn't like the fact it came from Jayson's work so he tries his best to sabotage the detail. Angela recovers and calls a Lawyer to get a restraining order aginst Rick. She also tries to patch things over with Jayson to no avail as Jayson's sense of loyalty has been violated. On her own now Trina becomes involved in the day to day business of Global Lock which Clayton encourages.

Clayton has a heart attack and the family comes together over his bedside.
1.15 - "Nuevo Laredo" Dante and Joseph must co-exist as the two are sent to spearhead a rescue mission in Mexico. While Clayton recovers Jayson finds out what Trina and Rick have been up to. Dante and Jayson lead a domestic chase to hunt down the Zetas before they cross over the border. Rick and Joseph travel to Sarejevo for some clandestine meetings. Trina confides in Clayton her plans for taking down Rick and despite the risk of collateral damage he pledges his support.
1.17 - "Kosovo" Rick and Joseph branch out on their own contracting a squad to run a high risk security detail in Kosovo. Dante's Father comes to him hat in hand after losing his house to the IRS. Jayson and Angela try to sort out their feelings for each other but Jayson finds he can't get past her failed relationship with Rick and the betrayal he feels. Russ appears on Trina's radar once again as MI5 is forced to work with the disgraced Irishman.
1.18 - "Congress" Jayson is forced to lead a small incursion to Kosovo to rescue Rick's rogue operators including Joseph. Dante has to testify at a congressional hearing on arms sales and the subject of his Father's gambling debts is brought into record. Angela is kidnapped by the Zetas.

Rick shoots Jayson in the back, and no one is quite sure if it was an accident. Jayson and Angela both cling to life in a Laredo hospital.
2.01 - "Cleaning House" Rick has regained full control of Global Lock with Jayson weak from his wounds, Clayton scheduled for quadruple by-pass surgery, and Trina dealing with her messy divorce from Russ. Rick leans on Dante to get his Ops side of the company in order and on Joseph to get his admin side likewise cleaned up. In the meantime Rick is courting several Senators with military contracts in play. Rick wants to dismiss Jayson from Global Lock but Trina barters her silence for his continued employment.
2.02 - "Pakistan (1)" At the behest of the US Government, Jayson and Dante lead Global Lock's most dangerous mission yet into Pakistan. They have a contract to take out a government minister that the US believes is a terrorist. In return political favors will be paid to Global Lock. It doesn't take long for things to go wrong when their supply connection is severed by the terrorists.

2.07 - "Tikrit" (2012) 0.7/2 1.98 Mar 8, 2012 A U.S. Senator approaches Jayson. They like the discreet (i.e. illegal) contracts that Global Lock is doing for them but they are worried about Rick's erratic behavior. They offer Jayson the best of both worlds; they will help Jayson get Rick out of the way if he agrees to continue to take on the same kind of clandestine operations that Rick was taking. At first Jayson refuses, but then he agrees to think it over. Rick and Trina run into trouble in Iraq; in an effort to cover their tracks that may lead to wrongdoing Rick puts Trina in harm's way. Clayton's attempts to redo his will are stymied by Rick's lawyers who claim he is not of sound mind.
2.08 - "Kuwait" Jayson and Dante are forced to finally go over to Iraq to try and rescue Trina. However, they are detained by American forces before they even get to the staging area for their operation. Finally, Russ uses his connections with the press to get public attention for Trina which brings the US government to a more sympathetic stance.

In the media firestorm that follows Rick is able to place the blame at Dante's feet; not daring to go after Jayson. So Jayson is placed in charge of Ops going forward. Back home Joseph directs GL's lawyers continued efforts to block Clayton's efforts to change his will. Joseph is found dead at his desk, a bullet in the head.
2.10 - "You Can't Go Home" The NSA find cause to swarm Global Lock's offices looking into the Iraq affair as wll as Joseph's death. Jayson needs a break so he and Dante return to Jayson's hometown; an unwelcome reunion.
2.11 - "Chicago" Global Lock is divided in two. Rick fights for resources from the board to send to Saudi Arabia to pursue his Arab agenda. The NSA snag Bennie and offer him a deal; spy on Global Lock for them and they will not arrest him for his eavesdropping on them. 2.20 - "Good Night" Clayton passes away in the middle of the night leaving his shares of Global Lock to Trina. Trina begins to sway the board into her favor, as does a US Senator. 3.02 - "Mavericks" (2012) 0.7/2 2.51 Sep 27, 2012 Jayson can't understand the lack of support for his efforts to end the planned coup d'etat until he starts to understand just how deep the political roots of this mission go. Global Lock; 2013-14 Season Preview
Liberty Television has announced that Global Lock will return for its 4th season on September 26th 2013 back in its Thursday 8pm slot. Interestingly, of the three Thursday shows it premiers the latest with Detroit 1-8-7 starting on September 12th, and In Truth starting on September 19th.
Last season opened with Rick behind bars, but that didn't stop him from reaching out from Russia and kidnapping Jayson. Dante in particular had a volatile year where his motives and loyalties came into question. Political and corporate intrigue ruled the day at Global Lock, as did a lengthy cross over with the now cancelled "Prince of Motor City".
The show's ratings were sub par, starting at around 0.7 and 0.8 demos but gaining a bit of momentum scoring consistent 1.0 near the end of the year. The season high was the May 9th finale episode 3.22 which drew a 1.0/3 3.45, while the season low in total viewers was episode 1 with 2.35 million while episodes 2, 3, and 4 drew the lowest demo of 0.7. The show ended with an average demo of 0.89 over its 22 episode run.
Global Lock's competition last year was Last Resort on ABC, Big Bang Theory and Two And A Half Men on CBS, Vampire Diaries on CW, X Factor/American Idol on FOX, and 30 Rock and Up All Night on NBC. In short this was probably the toughest time slot on network TV and that was likely the reason why it survived despite the low ratings.
Going forward in 2013-14 the competition is even stiffer with ABC offering Once Upon A Time in Wonderland, Big Bang Theory and The Millers on CBS, Vampire Diaries on CW, X Factor/American Idol on FOX, and Parks and Rec/Welcome to the Family on NBC. With that in mind the network would probably be happy with Global Lock doing a 1.0 and would renew it for the all important 5th season, possibly as Friday or Saturday night fodder.
The show's main focus will be to start off "smaller". Jayson and Dante decide to buy off the small division of Global Lock that specializes in high risk ops from the parent corporation so they can be their own boss. However, when their financing falls through they have no choice but to get back in bed with Trina despite their mistrust.
