River City Wrestling #803 August 7, 1999 Chicago, IL
Warm-up on some affiliates
Opening Bout RCW Heavyweight Title Match Steve Corino defeated Pierre Oulette by submission to the figure-four at 8:50 [Steve Corino retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **Corino actually has more than his share of troubles with his rival Canadian.
Vendetta II comes out early for his next match and he and Corino have a face to face until Jim Neidhart comes out to face VII.
Bout #2 Vendetta II (/w Barbie Wired) defeated Jim Neidhart by pinfall after hitting him with a steel chair at 24:57 **Wiked Klown and Jesse Hennig come to ringside to watch this bout. Hennig has an argument with Neidhart which allows VII to hit him with an inverted DDT outside the ring. Neidhart battles back, and VII misses a baseball slide taking a nasty bump. Neidhart weakens Vendetta II with a bearhug. VII has to fight his way out of the Anvilizer. Finally, while Klown distracts the ref Hennig passes VII a steel chair which he uses to clock Neidhart. There is no rhyme or reason why two memebers of Becky's Boys would be out helping a member of the pRopheCy or why some of Neidhart's friends wouldn't have come out to even the odds.
Although Vendetta II leaves the ring victorious, Hennig and Klown stay around to punk Neidhart. Finally Corino shows up but is met on the ramp by VII, and those two square off. Scarlett Birmingham shows up with a chair and starts to lay out Becky's Boys. Brian Lee (Darkstar) though shows up and nails Birmingham from behind. Corino manages to send VII packing and rescues Birmingham and Neidhart from further harm. Then Birmingham and Neidhart get into a brawl between the two of them with Corino trying to break it up.
Bout #3 RCW Tag Team Title Match The Extremists: Ace Darling & Devon Storm defeated Becky's Boys: Jesse Hennig & Brian Lee (/w Becky Hennig) by pinfall when Storm pinned Hennig after a Northern lights suplex at 7:20 [The Extremists retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **This is a quick paced back and forth match. The first big advantage came when Ace Darling nailed Hennig with an asai moonsault. He followed up with a DVD and would have got the pin except for Becky who draped Hennig's foot over the bottom rope. Hennig makes a comeback and hits Devon with a swinging neckbreaker. Instead of making the tag though Hennig tries to put Devon onto the top turnbuckle. Storm pushed him off then hit a northern lights suplex to get the duke.
After this match Lee got quite angry with Hennig and the two began to push each other. Lee then punched Hennig. Scarlett Birmingham rushed into the ring with a chair and laid out Lee. Hennig grabbed the chair and was about to clock Birmingham when Jim Neidhart rushed in and nailed Hennig in the back with his knee. Hennig's momentum caused him to smash into Lee on the ground; nailing him with the chair. Birmingham and Neidhart then got into a pushing match as the warm-up ended.
RCW Rage opens with
The Family is in the ring being interviewed by Joe Aiello. Basically they declare war on each member of the Alliance and claim that they don't know where Ben Bassarab is or how he stands, but that Bassarab & Silva have a match tonight with Leend & Christmas. Then we segue into our first match which contains other Family vs Alliance combatants.
Opening Bout Nick Mercury (/w Mistress Gloom & Big Albert) defeated Elmwood Brawler (/w Lord Zoltan) by submission to the Boston crab at 19:29 **It's all Mercury early and he hits an awesome head tope onto Brawler outside the ring. Manny Silva comes to ringside. Elmwood Brawler makes a comeback and then we have a near doublepin. The action goes back and forth until Silva hits Mercury in the back with a chair. Brawler looks to have a sure win, but Mercury recovers to hit Brawler with an elbow coming off the ropes. He then gets Brawler to submit to the Boston crab before Silva can interfere.
Manny Silva viciously attacks Nick Mercury until Jody Christmas and Joe E. Legend come in to run Silva and Brawler off.
Stan Baker is shown in the back getting a few pointers from Steve Corino on how to wrestle against Bobby Duncum Jr.
Nick Bockwinkel in the ring, first announces a Four-corners match for next week between Neidhart, Birmingham, Hennig & Lee. Bock also fills us in on tonights main event. A hardcore triple- threat elimination match between Kutlu Warrior-Sandman-Balls Mahoney. Then he interviews Bobby Duncum Jr, who basically grabs the mic and mocks Corino on how he lost twice to this jobber Baker. Duncum then passes on some unflattering things that his Daddy Bobby Duncum has said about Stan's uncle Ox Baker.
Steve Corino comes out to do guest commentary during the next match.
Bout #2 RCW Toughman Title Match Bobby Duncum Jr. defeated Stank Baker by pinfall after a running bulldog at 6:12 [Bobby Duncum Jr. retained the RCW Toughman Title] **Baker attacks Duncum before the bell and throws him out of the ring. Baker is all over Duncum and looks to be in control but Duncum blocks a dobule underhook suplex attempt and nails a bulldog. Duncum is too slow to cover. Baker continues to battle back, only to have Duncum pull out a forearm uppercut, followed by a running bulldog to get the decisive victory.
After the match Duncum offers his hand to Baker. Baker hesitates and looks towards Corino. Duncum kicks him in the gut and hits another bulldog. Corino hits the ring and the two go toe-to-toe with the king of old school knocking Duncum out of the ring. Duncum feined like he was leaving only to turn around and get back in the ring. He started to pound on Corino. Corino though pushed Duncum off when he went for a running bulldog attempt, and then security and officials were there to break it up.
Baker the forgotten man managed to slip Duncum's bullrope over Duncum's neck and then leaped off the ring apron, hanging Duncum in the process. He then tried to pull Duncum over the top rope while Duncum's hands grabbed at his own neck. The officials managed to get a hold of Duncum's feet and keep him in the ring, but this just choked Duncum more. Finally, Baker let go. Corino is shown in the back arguing with Nick Bockwinkel who is mad over Baker's actions. Corino insists he had nothing to do with it.
We are treated to a tribute to Chicago wrestling and wrestlers that includes Verne Gagne, Mad Dog Vachon, & The Legion of Doom.
Bout #3 RCW European Title Match Menele defeated Blitzkrieg by pinfall after a front face DDT at 7:02 [Menele retained the RCW European Title] The two combatants trade high risk moves early in this match. Menele grabs an advantage outside the ring with the jumping DDT. Blitz battles back inside the ring, so Menele takes it outside again. Outside the ring Menele hits 3 different suplexes. Back inside he follows up with a front face DDT and the pin.
Lord Zoltan is in the ring and says that he has no idea where Ben Bassarab is, and therefore the Family has to withdraw from their tag match. Of course, Nick Bockwinkel has to come out and tell the Family they will have to substitute another member of their family. Kamala then attacks Bockwinkel until the Alliance comes out to save him, and we begin our next bout after the ref has sent most of the entourages to the back.
Bout #4 The Alliance: Jody Christmas & Joe E. Legend (/w Mistress Gloom) defeated The Family: Manny Silva & Derek Graves (/w Sharon Montgomery & Lord Zoltan) by disqualification for outside interference at 17:11 **Gloom throws Christmas a cookie sheet which he uses to nail Silva. Silva gets up but Christmas nails him with the superkick. Somehow Silva gets a shoulder up. Silva makes a comeback, then all 4 men are in the ring fighting. Gloom throws Christmas a chair which he hits Silva with but can only get a 2 count. The Alliance controls most of the action despite some interference by Montgomery. Christmas gets another nearfall after a moonsault on Graves. Alliance isolates Graves for awhile, but Graves comes back and gets the figure- four on Christmas. Christmas fights back and nails the superkick but isn't quick enough to cover Graves. Christmas climbs the top turnbuckle but Montgomery throws him off. Montgomery enters the ring to try and hit Legend with a chair, but he moves out of the way and she hits Graves instead. Graves battles back and gets a figure-four on Legend. Then he almost gets the pin with a small package. Gloom enters the ring and nails Graves with a chair. Legend is coming off the ropes when Kamala suddenly appears at ringside and nails Legend with a chair. It's the first chair shot the ref has managed to see and he calls for the DQ.
Soon the ring fills up with Alliance and Family members. All hands are on deck with Christmas, Legend, Gloom, Mercury, Kwan fighting Graves, Silva, Gunn, and Kamala. Ben Bassarab appears at the top of the ramp and just stands there watching the action. Gary Goodridge suddenly goes running past Bassarab with a chair in his hand. Inside the ring Mercury, Christmas, Silva, and Lord Zoltan all receive chair shots before the ring clears. Steve Corino comes out to the top of the ramp, says something to Bassarab, and then the two of them leave the ramp together. After the break Goodridge is still in the ring and calls out Kamala. Instead Lord Zoltan appoints Bart Gunn to enter the ring.
Bout #5 Gary Goodridge defeated Bart Gunn (/w Lord Zoltan) by submission to the knee lock at 11:16 **Goodridge basically takes Gunn apart in this match, and almost gets the victory with a guillotine choke. Gunn makes a comeback with a swinging neckbreaker, russian legsweep, and the big left punch, but Goodridge kicks out before the 3 count. Kamala tries to throw Gunn a fire extinguisher, but Goodridge takes it away and nails Gunn. Goodridge puts on the knee lock submission.
Kamala enters the ring but when Goodridge gets off of Gunn and stands to face Kamala, the big man bails out instead. Goodridge catches Lord Zoltan trying to flee and applies the knee lock submission. Lord Zoltan is being carted off in a stretcher as we return from the break.
The Alliance challenges the Family to a 10-man tag team match at Summer Sizzle. Nick Bockwinkel shows up to make the match a done deal; elimination style.
Kutlu Warrior is in the ring with Barbie Wired and for some reason begins to go on about how he doesn't need Vendetta II or the pRopheCy if he doesn't want, because he can make it on his own. Then he talks about how Sandman used to always whine about guys wrestling him stiff in barbedwire city. Sandman comes down to the ring, stands face to face with Kutlu and talks about the beating that Kutlu is going to get at Summer Sizzle.
Balls Mahoney hits the ring, and he and Sandman get things started.
Main Event Hardcore Triangle Match Kutlu Warrior (/w Barbie Wired) defeated Balls Mahoney and The Sandman in a hardcore triangle match at 23:17 **Sandman hits Mahoney early with a DDT, and then busts him open using the singapore cane. Sandman then throws Mahoney around ringside, and then applies a DDT onto a table. Mahoney makes a short comeback, until Sandman hits him in the head with the singapore cane again. Sandman then piledrives him onto a table. Mahoney makes a comeback including a doublearm DDT onto the table. That's the 3rd major bump that table has taken without breaking! Sandman tags out to Kutlu after the indestructible table takes a couple more bumps. Kutlu executes a jumping DDT, and a elbowsmash from the 2nd turnbuckle onto Mahoney on the table. Still cant get the pin. Pvt Pain comes to ringside as Mahoney is making a comeback. Mahoney piledrives Kutlu onto the table, which still doesn't break. Mahoney is bleeding like crazy, and tags out to Sandman. Boss Strickland comes to ringside. Kutlu and Sandman's brawl spills to outside the ring where Kutlu busts a hockey stick over Sandman. Kutlu then hits him with the ringbell. Kutlu hits a slingshot somersault splash onto Sandman on the table, which still doesn't break. Sandman hits Kutlu with a bullrope and uses the rope to cut open Kutlu's forehead. Strickland throws Sandman a road sign, but Kutlu snatches it away and nails Sandman. Kutlu tags out to Mahoney, who is immediately tripped up by Pvt Pain. Sandman takes it to Mahoney, and when the action spills outside Pain helps Sandman doubleteam Balls. Sandman executes a flying somersault splash onto Mahoney and the table actually, and finally breaks!! Mahoney uses the announcers table on Sandman, who retaliates with a chair. When Pvt Pain interferes again he is ejected from ringside by the ref. Finally Sandman hits Mahoney with a bodyslam outside the ring, and then inside the ring a piledriver on the chair, and pins him. [Mahoney is elimiated by pinfall (Sandman) 21:18] **Kutlu is a little better rested and takes it to the Sandman. Strickland has to distract the ref to stop a pinfall count on Sandman. Sandman makes a comeback with a piledriver, but Kutlu moves out of the way of a flying legdrop. Kutlu hits a swinging neckbreaker and the jumping DDT to get the pin. [Sandman is eliminated by pinfall (Kutlu Warrior) 23:17]
Strickland and Sandman attack Kutlu at the end of the match. They get the better of him as we see Menele appear at the top of the ramp. Vendetta II though also appears and stops Menele from helpin (retaliation against Kutlu who said he didn't need the pRopheCy anymore). Mahoney recovers and runs up the ramp to attack Vendetta II. Menele then abandons VII and runs into the ring and tries to help Kutlu against Strickland & Sandman. Sandman DDT's Menele onto a chair as we

Pain, Darren Dalton, Wiked Klown (/w Barbie Wired & Becky Hennig) [Pvt Pain] was the first eliminated by Ace Darling at 8:43 after a double team elevated front face slam. [Shaggy] is eliminated next by Ace Darling at 12:34 after a hotshot. [Oulette] is eliminated next by Ace Darling at 14:10 after a double team elevated front face slam. [Menele] is eliminated next by Ace Darling at 21:35 after a top-rope frankensteiner. [Dalton] is eliminated last by Devon Storm at 25:33 after a double team elevated front face slam. Winners Shaggy, Ace Darling, Devon Storm, Kevin Quinn, Erin O'Grady **all survived but their teammates were not too happy with Extremists.
RCW Rage opens with
...Bobby Duncum Jr, Steve Corino, and Nick Bockwinkel in the ring. Duncum tells Bock that he wants payback tonight for last week's hanging. He wants both Corino & Baker in the ring in a handicap match. Bock tells him okay but its going to be a tag team match, so find a partner. Then Corino tells Bock that the only way he'll go into the ring with Duncum tonight is if Duncum puts his gold up. Duncum says fine. Bock proclaims that the person who gets the pinfall or submission from either team will walk away with the Toughman Title tonight.
Opening Bout Hardcore Match Balls Mahoney defeated The Sandman after a piledriver on a chair at 0:21 **so that was a short match. Sandman entered the ring with a chair, but Mahoney kicked him in the groin, hit him with the chair, then delivered the piledriver on the discarded chair and got the quick win. Shocking.
After the bout as Mahoney celebrates, they realize that Sandman isn't moving. As Mahoney checks on him help arrives from the back. While Sandman is getting medical attention, Vendetta II arrives from the audience and lays out Mahoney from behind. Kutlu Warrior arrives from the audience on the other side of the ring and begins to kick at Sandman as they try and transfer him to a spinal board. Boss Strickland enters with a chair and sends Kutlu and VII packing. Kutlu and VII leave separate, without even looking at each other.
Bobby Duncum Jr. is seen leaving a dressing room that is labeled "Jobbers", with a big smile on his face. He tells Joe Aiello when asked who his partner is tonight, that he has one, but it doesn't matter who it is, as long as the dumb ass stays on the apron.
Bout #2 Yoshi Kwan (/w Big Albert) defeated Boss Strickland by submission to the Wakigatame armbar at 7:35 **Kwan surprises Stirckland by taking control of this bout early. Strickland has his moments but misses a top rope splash attempt. Strickland manages to avoid a cobra clutch attempt and put on a last flurry, but Kwan strikes back and gets his deadly finisher.
Kutlu Warrior hits the ring again after this match, but surprisingly Kwan stops Kutlu from punking Strickland. Kwan puts his sword between himself and Kutlu until Strickland is able to roll out of the ring.
A brawl has broken out backstage between Gary Goodridge and Kamala.
Commish Nick Bockwinkel comes to the ring with the big announcement for the next PPV in September. It will be an Ironman event, and will consist of a round robin points tournament between RCW's 4 top singles wrestlers. Proudly he announces those participants to be Steve Corino, Bobby Duncum Jr, Jody Christmas, and Vendetta II.
The backstage brawl between Goodridge and Kamala has concluded with Kamala getting a little help from Bart Gunn to stuff Goodridge into a BFI trash container.
Bout #3 Four Corners Elimination Match Jim Neidhart defeated Scarlett Birmingham (/w Lady Victoria), Jesse Hennig, and Brian Lee in a Four Corners Elimination Match at 23:44 **Neidhart and Birmingham start things off but Hennig and Lee are already jawing at each other. Becky Hennig is not at ringside for this match, maybe not wanting to choose sides between her cousin and Brian Lee. Birmingham and Lee preview their PPV match with a hot exchange. Lee has Birmingham in all sorts of trouble and throws him around outside the ring. Back inside Birmingham is finally able to tag Hennig who comes in to face stable mate Lee. A fresh Hennig is all over Lee with a piledriver and then a flying headbutt. [Lee is eliminated at 10:06 by Hennig] **Hennig then battles Birmingham who is thrown outside the ring, but instead of battling Birmingham he leaves to chase Lee up the ramp, as Lee taunts him. [Birmingham is eliminated at 11:21 by Hennig] **Neidhart has the advantage over Hennig, until Hennig hits a swinging neckbreaker to take control. Hennig goes for another swinging neckbreaker, but Neidhart reverses it to apply a suplex, only to have Hennig counter with spinning headscisors. Hennig then followed up with another devastating swinging neckbreaker. Neidhart makes a comeback though and gets a nearfall after a slingshot. The action spills outside, and then Hennig comes up with several near pinfalls. Finally Neidhart comes back with the Anvilizer to get the win. [Winner by submission Jim Neidhart 23:44]
Lee, and Birmingham are seen backstage still brawling as Becky Hennig and Lady Victoria screech their disapproval. Jesse Hennig arrives after his bout and joins the melee turning it into a 3 man brawl until security breaks it up.
Joe Aiello interviews Kutlu Warrior who again reiterates that maybe it was time for him to prove that he didn't need Vendetta II. Kutlu says that if VII hadn't been so soft he would have hit Sandman with the chair after he hit Mahoney. Vendetta II shows up and tells Kutlu that if he wants to fly on his own than he should take care of his own enemies and not expect him to do it for him. Kutlu says he can take care of himself, and brushes by VII, who says "we shall see". No sooner than Kutlu has turned the corner than Strickland ambushes him nailing him with the steel chair.
Bout #4 Mistress Gloom (/w Joe E. Legend) defeated Elmwood Brawler (/w Lord Zoltan) by pinfall after a double underhook faceslam at 9:42 **Zoltan is sporting crutches as his knee was injured last week by Gary Goodridge. Gloom has control early in this match until Brawler comes back with two powerslams. Brawler would have had the pin after a Samoan drop except Legend jumped on the apron to distract the ref. This match is an Alliance vs Family matchup preceding their big 10-man elimination match at Summer Sizzle. Gloom then takes her turn distracting the ref while Legend enters the ring and nails Brawler with a chair. Gloom executes her finisher and picks up the win. Zoltan was frustrated by his inability to intervene due to being on crutches.
Gloom and Legend are joined by the rest of the Alliance in the ring to quickly repel an attempted attack by The Family.
Bout #5 Non-Title Triangle Match Joe E. Legend (/w Mistress Gloom) defeated Gary Goodridge and Derek Graves (/w Sharon Montgomery) when Legend pinned Graves after a Legend cutter at 3:53 **Legend attacked Goodridge before the bell and gets a near pin. Goodridge tags out to his former partner Graves. Kamala appears ar tingside. Graves has control of Legend and is poised to drop down with a fistdrop but is distracted by Goodridge and Kamala who have started to brawl outside the ring, and it looks like Montgomery is caught in the crossfire. Legend reaches up and nails Graves with a low blow. Then he delivers a kick to the gut followed by the Legend cutter for the win.
Manny Silva joins Kamala outside the ring and the two put another punk job on Goodridge until Legend and the rest of the Alliance come out to fight The Family.
Prior to the main event Kurrgan's music comes on. Nick Bockwinkel seems to assume that Kurrgan, who we haven't seen in a few weeks is coming down to commentate for the main even. Instead Kurrgan grabs a mic and stands in front of Bockwinkel. Face to face inside the ring Kurrgan tells Bock that he considers himself to be one of the top 4 in RCW and is pissed off to be left out of the Ironman. Bock explains that it was a tough decision, but the other 4 men are more fundamentally sound, and have more stamina, two things that are needed for Ironman success. Kurrgan loses his temper and throws Bock to the ground. He then prepares to chokeslam him but Balls Mahoney hits the ring. Balls talks to Kurrgan and convinces him to put Bock down. Kurrgan looks read to kill Mahoney, but Mahoney gets on the mic. He turns to Bock and calls him an asshole for choosing those 4 prima donnas when there are others in the back working their asses off for the company. He says that everyone should get a shot at the Ironman. Kurrgan seems to agree with Balls and they menace Bockwinkel together. The commish just nods but he doesn't actually agree to anything. Kurrgan and Balls let him go, telling him to "sleep on it".
Main Event Special Stipulation: Whoever makes the pin wins the RCW Toughman Championship Bobby Duncum Jr & Blitzkrieg defeated Steve Corino & Stan Baker by pinfall when Duncum pinned Corino after a running bulldog at 11:09 [Bobby Duncum Jr retained the RCW Toughman Title] **The crowd pops when Corino and Duncum face off to start the match. Corino gets the better of Duncum, and then Blitzkrieg tags himself in on Duncum's backside. Baker enters the ring and throws Duncum out while Corino gets a fisherman suplex and a 2 count on Blitzkrieg. Duncum and Corino are back against each other soon, and the match spills outside the ring. Duncum takes Corino apart with several whips into the guardrail and a piledriver. Duncum gets the bulldog on Corino but his feet are in the ropes. Blitzkrieg tags himself in again, and this pisses off Duncum! Outside the ring Blitzkrieg springs off a chair and nails Corino with a sidekick. Corino comes back with a clothesline. Baker comes over to make it 2-on-1 but is headed off by Duncum as the two big men brawl. Blitzkrieg tags out to Duncum, and then the two of them actually join forces to double team Corino. Inside the ring Duncum nails Corino with a piledriver and a running bulldog to take the victory. Oddly Baker didn't even legally get into the match.
After the match Duncum offers his hand to Blitz. Blitz feints an acceptance and then nails Duncum with an enziguiri! Baker comes over but is nailed with a bulldog by Duncum. Corino comes over and blocks a bulldog attempt. Corino and Duncum go toe to toe as we

The battle continues and this time Lady Victoria trips up Shaggy. The referee warns her one more time and Birmingham is disqualified. But the damage is done and Birmingham is all over Shaggy. The action spills outside where Kamala still has control and uses a pair of brass knuckles to bust Goodridge open. Next Kamala uses the ringbell on Goodridge with several hits. Goodridge is pretty much out of it as Kamala throws him over the guardrail and into the crowd. Kamala continues his assault on Goodridge this time using a steel chair. Finally Goodridge shows some signs of fight and grabs a frying pan and nails Kamala with two hard shots. Goodridge comes back with a half boston and a Yakuza kick, to get a 2 count. Kamala tries to hit Goodridge with a hockey stick but Goodridge ducks, grabs the stick and nails Kamala. Goodridge then throws Kamala into a row of chairs and puts on a crossface. They're brawling in the stands and Kamala goes for the Tongan death grip but Goodridge manages to break out. Goodridge grabs a hammer and nails Kamala. Both men are busted wide open. He follows up with a frankensteiner and gets the pin.
Bout #3 Hardcore Tag Team Match Menele & Kutlu Warrior (/w Barbie Wired) defeated Sandman & Boss Strickland by pinfall when Menele pinned Strickland after a front face DDT (with a handful of tights) at 12:43 **Kutlu grabs the first big advantage of the match nailing The Sandman with a ddt right on his injured neck. Outside the ring Sandman & Strickland double team Kutlu. Back inside, Sandman drives Kutlu through a table with a legdrop. Menele and Kutlu doubleteam Strickland with a double powerbomb. Menele nails Strickland with a baseball bat, and then he and Kutlu double team Strickland. Strickland battles back, snatching a hockey stick from Menele and using it, following up by throwing Menele around ringside. All 4 men are into it, it shakes down to Menele and Strickland, and Menele nails the front face DDT. Menele pulls the tights and gets the three count.
After the match Menele and Barbie Wired celebrate but Kutlu refuses to celebrate with them and leaves through the crowd. The Sandman and Strickland also seem to have their problems after the match but they leave the ring together.
Bout #4 10-Man Elimination Tag Match The Alliance: Jody Christmas, Joe E. Legend, Nick Mercury, Yoshi Kwan, & Mistress Gloom v The Family: Bart Gunn, Derek Graves, Manny Silva, Elmwood Brawler, & Lord Zoltan
The Family comes to the ring, Lord Zoltan says that Ben Bassarab missed his connecting flight so he couldn't be here tonight. He proposes to make it an 8 man tag match. Nick Bockwinkel comes into the ring and says no - that Zoltan will have to take Bassrab's place. And Bock says Zoltan will have to start the action against Mistress Gloom!!
**Zoltan tags out to Gunn after about 45 seconds. Christmas and Graves have the first prolonged exchange, and they match up pretty even. Silva comes in to try and doubleteam but Gloom comes in and lays out Silva, and then joins Christmas in double teaming Graves. Graves battles back and gets the figure four on Christmas. Even though Christmas breaks the hold he is hurt, and Graves tags in Silva. Silva isolates Gloom in the ring as she valiantly tries to tag out. Pvt Pain pulls down the top rope sending Mahoney to the floor. VII nails him with a baseball slide and then climbs the pole and grabs the blackjack. VII nails Mahoney with the blackjack but only gets a 2 count. Mahoney makes a comeback with a flying clothesline, and grabs the blackjack. VII continues to dominate outside the ring, and Pvt Pain continues to distract Mahoney. Mahoney battles back though and grabs the testicular claw. Pvt Pain enters the ring and pulls Mahoney off VII. Vendetta II nails Mahoney with a hurricane DDT and uses the ropes for leverage to get the pin.
MAIN EVENT RCW Heavyweight Title Match Bobby Duncum Jr defeated Steve Corino by pinfall after a flying bulldog at 20:20 [Bobby Diuncum Jr wins the RCW Heavyweight Title] **Corino is all over Duncum from the start of the match, working over his legs. He also hits him with a nice flying clothesline and a German suplex. Corino throws Duncum out of the ring and nails him with a plancha. Corino is really showing a killer's instinct tonight, and whips Duncum into the ringsteps. Duncum begins a comeback by nailing Corino with a clothesline. Somehow Corino manages to kick out of the cover attempt. Duncum is in control now and uses a lot of punches and kicks to further subdue Corino. The action spills to the floor where it is still all Duncum. Time seems to be running out for the Champion. Duncum seems to just be getting stronger when Corino rallies with a russian legsweep, an elbowdrop from the second rope, and a 2 1/2 count. The crowd goes crazy as the two wrestlers exchange control of the match back and forth. They stand in the middle of the ring exchanging blows. Suddenly Duncum hits a forearm uppercut and nails the flying bulldog, and covers smack dab in the middle of the ring to get the pin. Winner and NEW RCW CHAMPION..Bobby Duncum Jr. !! Thus ends Steve Corino's second title reign at less than a month, and begins Duncum's first title reign, and the 52nd title reign in the lineage.
After the match ends Corino extends his hand to Duncum who looks at him suspiciously before refusing. Corino leaves the ring in disgust as Duncum celebrates.

River City Wrestling #806 August 21, 1999 Iowa City, IA
RCW RAGE opens
with Nick Bockwinkel & the new RCW Heavyweight Champion Bobby Duncum Jr in the ring. Duncum is giving a typical "acceptance speach" when the Kurrgan hits the ring with a chair and lays out the champ. Only a timely arrival by Balls Mahoney saves Bockwinkel from a chokeslam. Faced by Mahoney & Kurrgan, Boickwinkel announces that the IronMan will have 4 qualifying brackets of 3 men each. Both Mahoney and Kurrgn will be included. Duncum revives and grabs the discarded chair and lays out both Mahoney and Kurrgan before berating Bockwinkel as being yellow.
When we come back from break Balls Mahoney is still in the ring and talks about how he has been unable to get a clean victory over Pvt Pain in their 2 meetings. He challenges him to a Loser Must leave the RCW Trash Can Match - Now.
Opening Bout Hardcore Trash Can Match - loser must leave the RCW Balls Mahoney and Pvt. Pain (/w Barbie Wired) battle to a 20-minute time limit draw **It's all Pvt Pain early in this match, including a nice double underhook suplex. Mahoney battles back with a DDT, nails Pain into the big trash can, and then almost chokes him out. Pain grabs the advantage again with a spinebuster slam, and follows it up with his normal finishing move the Top Rope Cradle Suplex. Mahoney shows signs of life so Pain nails him again with a spinebuster slam, and tries to put him in a sleeper, but Mahoney counters with a jawbreaker. Mahoney manages to battle back and lock on the testicular claw. Pain survives and comes back with a sleeperhold. They brawl outside the ring where Pain again grabs the advantage. Finally Mahoney comes up with a flourish that includes a testicular claw, double arm DDT, and a slingshot suplex. Mahoney has Pain stuffed into the trash can but can't get the lid down. Soon after that the bell rings to call the match a draw.
Scarlett Birmingham is interviewed in the ring by Joe Aiello who announces that due to his recent winning streak the Championship Committee has granted him a shot at Bobby Duncum's title on Rage in 2 weeks time. Jesse Hennig comes down to the ring. He says that because Brian Lee no-showed he petitioned the RCW to fire the S.O.B. - which they agreed to do. He also says that he has fired Becky as his manager, and that she can continue to hang out with that loser Wiked Klown. But he says that Birmingham would never have beaten Lee if he had showed up; and could certainly not beat him (Hennig). He challenges Birmingham for the title shot. Birmingham agrees.
Bout #2 Winner gets a shot at the RCW World Title Jesse Hennig defeated Scarlett Birmingham (/w Lady Victoria) by pinfall after Lady Victoria hit Birmingham with a steel chair at 4:15 **The match starts with both men attacking viciously. Hennig grabs the first big advantage with an enziguiri, followed up with a gutwrench suplex, and an armbar submission hold. Hennig hits another enziguiri and has Birmingham all but beat, but accidentally knocks the ref out while springing to his feet. He continues to beat on Birmingham, but when he goes for the pin there is no ref to count. Lady Victoria enters the ring and tries to hit Hennig with a chair but he moves out of the way and she waffles Birmingham instead. The Brit is out cold. Hennig revives the ref and he makes the 3 count.
Nick Bockwinkel is in the ring to announce the qualifying brackets for the Ironman but before he can finish the feed breaks up into static and then comes back with a picture of a wrestling ring inside a small venue, perhaps an armory, with only a couple hundred folding metal seats. The place is empty but a disguised and distorted voice does a mic-over berating the WWF, WCW, RCW, and ECW for destroying the independent wrestling Feds during the 80's and 90's. The voice says that in retribution his indy fed would be pirating RCW air time each week. Then the feed returns to a frazzled Nick Bockwinkel. Bock doesn't finish the brackets but does manage to get out that the first bracket would be tonight and would consist of Steve Corino, Manny Silva, and Nick Mercury.
Bout #3 RCW Tag Team Title Match Menele & Kutlu Warrior (/w Barbie Wired) defeated The Extremists: Ace Darling & Devon Storm by pinfall when Menele pinned Ace Darling after a T-bone suplex at 5:24 [Menele & Kutlu Warrior win the RCW Tag Team Titles] **Kutlu tries to send Barbie away from ringside, but Menele insists that she stays. The two partners are arguing as the match starts. Kutlu gets the first big shot, with a powerbomb on Storm and a 2 1/2 count. Kutlu gets an advantage over Darling and then tags in Menele. Menele gets one near fall, and then Storm runs in to interfere, and allows Darling to nail Menele with a frankensteiner. Menele makes a quick comeback and nails a T-bone suplex on Ace Darling to get the pinfall.
After the match Menele leaves with Wired and Kutlu stays in the ring to call out Vendetta II. VII stands at the top of the ramp as Kutlu tells him its time for VII to either step it up a notch or stand aside. Kutlu claims VII is past his prime and no longer able to deliver the prophecy. Suddenly, Kurrgan sneaks into the ring behind Kutlu and lays him out with a steel chair.
Bout #4 IRONMAN QUALIFIER - BRACKET #1 Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) defeated Nick Mercury (/w Big Albert) by pinfall after a wheelbarrow suplex at 13:22 **Mercury and Big Albert come out without Mistress Gloom. Silva takes the matchup outside the ring early where he throws Mercury around good until Albert interferes and allows Mercury to make a comeback. Next it is Mercury's turn to take the match out of the ring where he whips Silva around pretty good. Silva battles back with an awesome powerslam to get a 2 count. Mercury grabs the advantage again, and tries to put the half-Boston on Silva but can't get the wild man turned over. Silva throws Mercury out of the ring, and then catches him coming in with a powerslam. Silva nails an avalanche, and only Big Albert distracting the ref prevents the 3 count. Mercury grabs the advantage again, but once again can not get the Boston locked on. Silva blocks a kick to the midsection and lays out Mercury with a vertical suplex. Silva finishes off Mercury with a wheelbarrow suplex.
The Family comes to the ring to celebrate Silva's victory. Suddenly they turn on the Elmwood Brawler and lay a beating on him, before throwing him out of the ring. They call him the weak link as the only member eliminated in the 10-man tag match.
The Alliance comes out to the top of the ramp, and Jody Christmas challenges Derek Graves to a TV title match next week. Lord Zoltan accepts on behalf of Graves but says in return next week, Mistress Gloom would have to agree to wrestle against a Family member. Gloom agrees. Zoltan says it will be Manny Silva. The Alliance tries to get her to change her mind but Gloom wants to do it.
Bout #5 IronMan Qualifier Bracket #1 Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) defeated Steve Corino by pinfall after a running kneesmash at 6:04 **Corino uses a couple of his signature moves, the Russian legsweep and flying clothesline to grab an early advantage. Silva kicks him off when he tries to go for a figure-four around the ringpost. Silva nails a powerslam and a 2 count. Silva gets near falls after a chokeslam, another powerslam, and a splash. Corino comes right back with a flying bulldog, goes for the sharpshooter, but can't turn the bigger man over (reminiscent of how Mercury couldn't turn Silva over for the Boston). Silva comes back with a clothesline, an avalanche, and then as Corino is on his knees a running kneesmash for the surprise pinfall. [Manny Silva qualifies for the IronMan PPV]
Silva wins the first bracket and is going to the Ironman PPV. It also renders tonight's Main Event to be of no consequence as far as the PPV is concerned.
Gary Goodridge is interviewed in the back. He is furious that he has again been passed over for the likes of Birmingham and Hennig to receive a title shot, when he is the reigning Last Man Standing. He says that he has one of the remaining qualifying spots and expects to win the ironman, no matter what it takes.
Nick Mercury is stopped by security trying to leave the building. They slow him down long enough for RCW Official Vic Gate to arrive on the scene and give Mercury the ulimatum to go to the ring and wrestle Corino or be suspended. Mercury argues that the match is meaningless; but Gate says "maybe not to the King of Old School".
MAIN EVENT IRONMAN QUALIFIER BRACKET #1 Steve Corino defeated Nick Mercury (/w Big Albert) by submission to the figure-four at 4:39 **Corino uses a backbreaker, a headbutt, and a fisherman suplex to gain the early advantage. Mercury makes a modest comeback before Corino nails him with a flying bulldog. Corino continues to punish Mercury who seems more interested in trying to get away from Corino then actually fighting. Corino nails a flying clothesline, and headbutt to set up the figure-four finisher.
After the match as Mercury leaves up the ramp Lord Zoltan grabs the mic and taunts Mercury as having gone soft, and being more worried about his hairlocks then his headlocks.
FADE TO BLACK
Well that's what happens when you run unbooked. Silva won two straight making the main event an after thought.

River City Wrestling #807 August 28, 1999 Akron, Ohio
Warm-ups on some affiliates
Opening Bout Johnny Devine defeated Pierre Oulette by pinfall after a reverse STO at 14:07 **Devine sustained a tremendous amount of damage from Oulette but managed to hang in long enough to pull out his finisher. This was Devine's premiere in RCW. The 5'10 210 pounder from Calgary was trained by the Hart family.
Bout #2 Kamala (/w Lord Zoltan) defeated Erin O'Grady by pinfall after a splash at 4:25 **This match was pretty even until Kamala quickly took it over with his size to get the duke.
Bout #3 The Extremists: Ace Darling & Devon Storm defeated Boss Strickland & Sandman by pinfall when Darling pinned Sandman after a missile dropkick at 3:05 **Devon Storm was in trouble early. But the Extremists turn it around in a hurry and Darling finishes it off. Strickland and Sandman don't look happy with each other.
RCW Rage starts with
Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel is in the ring with Heavyweight Champion Bobby Duncum Jr.. Duncum rants on how the Kurrgan hit him with a chair last week and how tonight their match would be no-holds barred. Bock approves this match. Bock tells Duncum that his match with Kurrgan would be tonight's main event, as well as part of his IronMan qualifying bracket tonight. That bracket will be Duncum, Kurrgan, and Joe E. Legend. Duncum tells Legend to get his ass out here and they'll start this brawl now.
Bout #1 IronMan Qualifier (non-title match) Joe E. Legend (/w Mistress Gloom) defeated Bobby Duncum Jr by pinfall after the Legend cutter at 8:40 **Duncum is double teamed outside the ring by Legend and Gloom and is busted open early in this match. Duncum blocks an early cutter attempt and applies the airplane spin to Legend. Duncum charges into the corner, Legend moves out of the way, and hits the Legend cutter. Duncum kicks out at 2. Legend continues his assault with a powerslam and a shoulderblock. Duncum hits the airplane spin again, but Legend holds on and counters with an atomic drop. Legend follows up with a second Legend cutter to get an upset victory.
Duncum is furious about his loss, and after the match he takes it out by delivering bulldogs on the referee, two security guards, a few more referees and officials the WWF sends down to the ring, and finally Balls Mahoney who came out to try and calm Duncum down.
A promo for the recently premiered Johnny Devine.
The Alliance is in the ring in full force. Christmas, and Legend do all the talking. Mercury looks bored and when offered the mic he just says "I've got two words for you...this sucks" and belches. Legend and Christmas don't look too impressed by that, and Yoshi Kwan grabs the mic and starts talking Japanese until we cut to break
Bout #2 RCW Television Title Match Derek Graves (/w Sharon Montgomery & Lord Zoltan) defeated Jody Christmas (/w Mistress Gloom) by disqualification for outside interference at 6:46 [Derek Graves retained the RCW Television Title] **Jody Christmas has an early advantage and then the crowd comes to their feet as Chi-Chi Cruz marks his return to RCW by coming down to ringside. Neither Christmas nor Graves seem to know what he is doing there. As the action spills out of the ring Graves takes the advantage, and Christmas misses a plancha. The action goes outside the ring again and Christmas gains a temporary advantage thanks to the distraction of Gloom. Graves battles back and nails Christmas with a piledriver. Graves throws Christmas into the guardrail. Back inside the ring Graves puts the figure-four on Christmas. Chi Chi Cruz enters the ring, and after a little hesitation he drops an elbow on Graves to break the hold.
After the match Bart Gunn comes storming from the back and goes nose-to-nose with Cruz before Christmas nails him from behind. In the back we catch Strickland and The Sandman kicking the crap out of Menele in an otherwise empty dressing room. They leave him laying after Sandman hits him repeatedly with his Singapore cane.
Kutlu Warrior is in the ring and tells Strickland and Sandman to come get some of him. They accept the offer and circle the ring. They try and get into the ring a couple of times but each time Kutlu fights them back. Suddenly the arena lights go out for a few seconds. When they return on we see Strickland and Sandman in the ring and they now have an easy time punking Kutlu. As they leave the ring they look up, and we see Vendetta II standing at the top of the ramp.
After a break Becky Hennig is in the ring. She tries to call out Jesse Hennig, telling him how sorry she is and how she would do anything to have him back. Major emphasis on "anything". The TV feed crackles into life and we see the smirk on the face of Jesse for a split second before the feed crackles again and we see the same "armory" that we saw last week. This time though it is full of people (a few hundred), and in the ring a match is just getting underway. The same disguised voice from last week says that although Becky's obvious display of sexual innuendo may bring in ratings, it has nothing to do with wrestling. He rants again about how Larkin and others ruined wrestling for the true wrestling fans and performers. He calls Becky a two dollar whore - freak show performer. Eventually he stops talking and tells us to enjoy the action.
Joe Aiello does his best to call the action as he watches the feed like the rest of us. He knows very little about Flash Flanagan and Vic Grimes (the competitors had been identified by the mysterious voice).
Bout #3 Hardcore Match "Vicious" Vic Grimes defeated Flash Flanagan by pinfall after the Grime Time at 8:03 **Flanagan misses a slignshot somersault plancha to give Grimes the early advantage. Grimes uses a fire extinguisher on Flanagan. Grimes follows up with a doctor bomb and a two count. They then take turns swinging and missing each other with a blackjack until finally Flanagan connects on Grimes. Flanagan takes the action outside again where he hits an asai moonsault. Back inside Grimes takes Flanagan down with a legsweep to set up the Grime Time finisher.
After the match the voice promises to be back next week.
Becky Hennig is still in the ring but Joe Aiello says that we have to go to break so Jesse's response will have to wait for next week.
Balls Mahoney cuts a promo from a utility room. He says he has been way too trusting; of Kurrgan, Bockwinkel and now Duncum. From now on he promises to watch out for #1; Balls.
Joe Aiello has cornered Chi Chi Cruz as he prepares to leave the arena. He asks Chi Chi where he stands. Cruz tells him to mind his own business. Aiello presses for more and gets a shove instead. Here comes Bart Gunn with Manny Silva in tow. Bart wants to know where Cruz stands, and is just told that he will find out soon enough. Cruz is allowed to leave.
Joe E. Legend & Mistress Gloom are in the ring and they hint at bringing Cruz into The Alliance and ditching some other members.
Bout #4 IronMan Qualifier Joe E. Legend (/w Mistress Gloom) defeated Kurrgan by pinfall after a Legend cutter at 3:53 **Legend is all over Kurrgan from the beginning, and nails a nice piledriver. Legend blocks Kurrgan's attempts at offense and continues to dominate when Vendetta II comes down to ringside. Kurrgan seems distracted by VII's presence at ringside and it allows Legend to nail him with a double underhook suplex, and a flying axhandle. Legend nails the cutter to get the pin.
After the match Kurrgan looks pissed at Vendetta II but VII retreats through the crowd before Kurrgan can confront him. Kurrgan grabs a mic and suggests to the crowd that they probably would like to know what the hell is going on between him and the pRopheCy. Well, Kurrgan says, "so would I". He suugests that he and VII had some sort of deal, but now he is not so sure of where they stand. The fans begin to boo him quite loudly. Kurrgan then challenges Duncum to put up the Heavyweight title for their main event match tonight. Duncum comes to the top of the ramp and accepts; except the belt on the line tonight will be the ToughMan title. Kurrgan's former belt.
Legend and The Alliance are celebrating Legend's victory in the back with champagne, when trainer/road agent Vic Gate knocks on their door to remind them it is...as we hear the music cut in for Manny Silva. The Alliance protests but eventually Mistress Gloom and Legend make their way to the ring.
Manny Silva is in the ring. Lord Zoltan calls out Gloom and tells her to bring Legend out to so he can watch Silva destroy Legend's girlfriend before he destroys Legend at the IronMan.
Bout #5 Manny Silva (/w Lord Zoltan) defeated Mistress Gloom (/w Joe E. Legend) by pinfall after a wheelbarrow suplex at 1:23 They stand toe-to-toe and only a low blow allows Gloom a chance. Both Zoltan and Legend are up on the apron as Silva hits a powerbomb and then the wheelbarrow suplex to pick up a quick victory.
The Alliance: Jody Christmas, Nick Mercury, and Yoshi Kwan swarm the ring after as do Kamala, Bart Gunn, and Derek Graves. Eventually the Family manages to overwelm the Alliance and stand tall as the Alliance loses another round to the Family.
Vendetta II is interviewed leaving the arena. Asked about him and the Kurrgan; he says that he makes no deals with anyone. He says Kurrgan is on his own tonight. Then VII says that if Kurrgan is to help fulfill the pRopheCy then he must defeat Bobby Duncum tonight for that ToughMan strap.
Duncum is in the ring awaiting the Kurrgan when Steve Corino's music plays ("I am the Bullgod" Kid Rock). Corino comes out to the top of the ramp. He says that Duncum's Heavyweight Title win was a fluke, and now Duncum is ducking him, signing to wrestle stiffs like Kurrgan and Jesse Hennig instead. Duncum grabs a mic and tells Corino that he is sick of seeing him and his freak show friend Jim Neidhart around and challenges them both to a match. Corino of course agrees. Jesse Hennig suddenly appears behind Corino and nails him with a chair. Hennig then throws the chair down and piledrives Corino onto the chair. He looks to do it a second time when Becky Hennig shows up to try and stop him. Jesse pauses, and then Corino backflips Jesse who goes smashing into Becky. She is out cold and Corino looks distressed. Jesse just leaves. Kurrgan comes out and catches Corino not looking. Kurrgan clotheslines him and then chokeslams him onto the errant chair. Inside the ring Duncum just laughs at Corino and taunts Kurrgan to come get him.
Main Event RCW Toughman Title Match Kurrgan defeated Bobby Duncum Jr by pinfall after a tomstone piledriver at 10:26 [Kurrgan wins the RCW Toughman Title] **The match is pretty even to start, but Duncum gains the advantage outside the ring throwing Kurrgan into the ringsteps and guardrail. Back inside the ring Kurrgan grabs the advantage with a big elbowsmash, and then delivers a nasty headbutt that busts Duncum open hard way. Kurrgan then throws Duncum out of the ring. Outside the ring they take turns throwing each other into the steps and guardrail. Kurrgan weakens Duncum with a bodyslam, a throw into the guardrail and two elbowsmashes. Back inside Kurrgan delivers a tombstone piledriver on a steel chair to pick up a decisive win. Kurrgan begins his second Toughman Title reign, having been the first title holder.
Duncum lays prone in the ring, his head a mask of crimson red. Kurrgan poses with his newly obtained belt and indicates he wants the Heavyweight title too, as we
FADE TO BLACK
A decent Rage. The matches were pretty good but far too short. While the story development was good, the in-ring action didn't really tie it all together like it should. However, the return to the "every man" for himself style of this year's RCW instead of just all the different factions is promising.
