episode guide
1.01 - "Homecoming King" (2012) The show opens with Marshall Bryant pacing, gun in hand while his mother Marsha Bryant is gagged and tied to a chair. Wearing sunglasses and looking manic he apologizes to his mother "for all this" and then begins to tell her the story of how he, a record store employee, became a hitman on the side. It all began when he was working at the used Embassy record store in his hometown of Somers Point, PA. Marshall was sorting records in the storeroom when Joe Murphy came into the store, and tried to kill Marshall's boss Leroy. Marshall came out from the back just in time and out of instinct used a copy of REO Speedwagon's "Hi Fidelity" like a frisbee slicing open Joe's throat. The homecoming king, Joe Murphy was dead. Before the cops could come in though a "cleaner" arrived except there was the wrong body to clean. This man Leif Harlowe made a quick phone call and then gave Marshall a choice, take Joe's place and become a trained killer or take Leroy's place and get shot in the head. As it was Leroy was already dead, the trauma of the event triggered a massive heart attack. Marshall used that excuse to get away for the summer taking the job at the resort, except he wasn't really working, he was training in his new craft. The syndicate forged some papers and when Marshall returned after the summer to Somers Point he had now inherited Leroy's record store from the old man, who must have loved him like a son. The rest of the episode centered around his first hit, being mentored by the cleaner Leif Harlowe, and how that pizzaria owner in Philly seemed like such a nice guy, but when Marshall saw the truth, saw what he did to the illegal immigrants that worked for him ~ he pulled the trigger. The show ends with Marshall sitting across from his Mother whose terror showed clearly in her tear filled eyes, hands over his knees, gun in hand, saying that was my first kill Mother, but it was not the last.
1.02 - "Crush List" (2012) Marshall tries to convince his employer to call off a hit on a teenager who's only crime seems to be to have published a crush list on facebook.
1.03 - "The Last DJ" (2012) 1.4/4 4.12 The syndicate calls Marshall in to take care of business when a radio executive won't play ball with the right recording artists.
1.04 - "Competition Breeds Contempt" (2012) 1.2/3 3.51 Leif puts both Marshall and a new hitman Johnny onto the same job to see which one is the better contractor.
1.05 - "Crack of Ice" (2012) 1.2/3 3.37 Marshall finally gets a job he agrees with, to snuff out a drug dealer. Only he finds out it's not all that simple as the target really isn't that bad of a guy.
1.06 - "Heat of the Moment" (2012) 1.2/3 3.31 Marshall is sent to kill a college professor by the syndicate but when he breaks into his house to lie in wait, as he pokes around he discovers the prof. is also the global president of the Asia fan club (the band). This setting puts Marshall through a series of flashbacks about growing up.
1.07 - "i Kill" (2012) A technology brat has stolen billion dollar secrets from America's leading technology company; and the syndicate wants Marshall to take him out.
1.08 - "Townie" (2012) A crew of Boston boys chose the wrong Philly bank to rob and the syndicate gives Marshall his first multiple hit job; take out all 4 of the robbers.
1.09 - "Something About A Girl" (2012) When Marshall's next hit seems to simply be a case of one man paying to have his romantic rival snuffed out he has had enough and balks; making the Syndicate, Leif, and Caesar very angry.
1.10 - "Mother's Day" (2012) In the season finale we pick up where we left off in episode 1; Marshall apparently holding his Mother hostage, gagged and bound to a chair, a Mother's Day bouquet of flowers in the background. It is now revealed howerver that Caesar is sitting in the corner of the room, also gun in hand, forcing Marshall to kill his own Mother as punishment for trying to walk away from the Syndicate. Marshall does the inevitable and tips over his Mother's chair, rolls away and engages Caesar in an exchange of bullets. Marshall has to jump out the family room window, and run past a surprised Leif Harlowe. The chase is on and takes them through Marshall's high school. We get more flashbacks to Marshall's difficult days growing up, his attempts to be a singer in a band, his attempts to be a radio DJ, and finally his landing pad; a used record salesman. Marshall reminds himself that he has a new profession; hired hitman, and he's very good at it. Marshall manages to kill Caesar but Leif has the drop on him and looks like he could kill Marshall at any time. But instead the cleaner puts his guy away, telling Marshall now that Caesar is dead he is unemployed too. He gives Marshall a businesscard and tells him that if he decides to go out on his own to give him a call and he can provide clean up service. Marshall returns home to his traumatized Mom.

Greatest Hits; 2013-14 Season Preview
Liberty television is proud to announce that Greatest Hits starring Freddie Prinze Jr will be returning for its 3rd season on Wednesday, September 18th at 10pm eastern time.
The main storyline early in the new season will have Marshall (Prinze Jr) trying to keep himself, Monique (Neve Campbell), and Sarah (Talen Ruth Riley) hidden in North Africa, while his former friend Leif Harlowe (Michael Cade) tries to track them down for the FBI because he believes he was betrayed by Marshall. That storyline will not drag out however, and soon Marshall will find himself back stateside with a glum future. He will even have to move back in with his mother (Lisa Hartman Black), something that does not look good on a hitman's resume. Marshall finds himself breaking his longtime oath and working for the CIA as a means to get out from under his troubles.
Last year the show's ratings saw a modest incline from a low of 1.3/4 4.27 in episode 1, to a high of 1.6/4 5.60 in the season finale episode 22. The show finished the season with an average demo rating of 1.47 well above the average for the network's ratings.
This year the show will remain in the same Wednesday 10pm slot. Last season the competition was Moden Family and Suburgatory on ABC, Criminal Minds on CBS, Supernatural on CW, X-Factor and American Idol on FOX, and Law & Order SVU on NBC. Quite simply this may have been the toughest time slot in all of TV, and Greatest Hits performed well. This year Super Fun Night replaces Suburgatory as follow-up to Modern Family on ABC, The Tomorrow People replaces Supernatural on CW, while the rest of the competition remains the same. The network would be happy if Greatest Hits could average this year it's high water mark from last year of 1.6 demo.
The show is getting a bit of a face lift in front of the camera with Neve Campbell becoming a regular at the start of the season, and an enhanced role for Lisa Hartman Black for later in the year. There are talks of Hilary Duff or Yvonne Strahovsky perhaps joining the show later in the year, and a reoccuring small role in front of the camera for EP John Cusack as a former hitman.
Behind the camera the show had to shuffle after the passing of writer Tom Jankiewicz who was part of the original Grosse Pointe Blank gang with Cusack. Jonah Stroh (writer/producer) and Brian McCulley (writer/director/producer) have been added to help pick up the slack in one of the smallest principal crews on network TV.
The show has received a full 22 episode order and there is some talk it could be expanded to 24 episodes if warranted.

Greatest Hits; 2015-2016 Season Preview
Liberty television is proud to announce that Greatest Hits starring Freddie Prinze Jr will be returning for its 5th season on Wednesday, September 18th at 10pm eastern time.
The main story direction this year will focus around Marshall Bryant (Prinze) now trying to retire from doing hits and instead preventing them, along with a new mentor Dean Howie (Bill Pullman) and his daughter Katherine Howie (Hilary Duff). The uneasy romance between Marshall and Katherine will come front and center and cause Dean to either deal with it or distance himself from Marshall. The cast has undergone another major facelift with Leif Harlowe (Michael Cade) and Nikki Tookey (Yvonne Strahovski) gone as recurring characters. Paul Gross returns as Stu Stewart the FBI agent, while Bill Pullman and Hilary Duff join the show as regulars for the season. Chris Jericho and Christopher Bolton also join the cast as regulars. The producers have let it be known that Joan Cusack, The Barbaro Crime Family, Danny DeVito, Jimmy Buffett, and Rosie O'Donnell will all be part of the fun this year, as will a return as a guest star for Yvonne Strahovski.
Last year in the same Wednesday 10pm slot the show saw an average rating of 1.77 making it Liberty TV's highest rated show. This season the competition in the timeslot will be Nashville/Secrets & Lies (ABC); Code Black (CBS); and Chicago PD (NBC). CBS had Stalker in that slot last year, and Code Black doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. There doesn't seem to be a reason other then old age to think Greatest Hits shouldn't be able to have another great season for Liberty TV.
The show has received a full 24 episode order from the network.

Greatest Hits; 2016-17 Season Preview
Liberty Television's #1 ranked show Greatest Hits returns for season 6 this fall at Wednesday 10:00pm/9cst. This year the show will be anchoring a pair of new offerings with Corvette Club and Nola Hart opening the night. The network should be aiming for ratings in the 1.5-17 range. The Wednesday 10pm timeslot see's competition from rookie show Designated Survivor on ABC, Code Black on CBS, and Chicago P.D. on NBC. Overall the competition is average, and pretty much the same as last year with Designated Survivor stepping in for Nashville & American Crime.
Last season we saw the continued relationship between Marshall and Katherine, despite Dean's objections, and the interference it causes in everyone's professional relationship. This season Dean (Bill Pullman) will retire to Costa Rica but will be back as a recurring character in the 2nd half of the year; leaving Marshall and Katherine to run "the agency" themselves. However, early in the season they will find themselves coerced into taking jobs for an unknown controller. Along the way they will team up with two new characters Brock Pruitt (Chris Marquette) an electronics genius, and Jeneva Damon (Ana de la Reguera) a smooth talking private operative with the hots for Marshall.
Behind the scenes original creator Matt Jones continues as executive producer, along with the brother sister team of John & Joan Cusack. The main man behind the scenes continues to be Marc Guggenheim who is listed as Writer/Producer and is in fact the showrunner. Jonah Stroh who joined the crew in season 3 acts as his second in charge (writer/producer) and is the heir apparent if there is a 7th season as Guggenheim had to be talked into returning for a 6th season. Rene Balcer the veteran writer of Law & Order shows amongst others, continues to be the main volume writer and looks to step into a producing role as well if Guggenheim exits. Kimberly Peirce and Christopher M. Searcey join the show as directors this year in addition to Matt Sadowski and Brian McCulley. John Cusack, Joan Cusack, Jonah Stroh, Bill Pullman, and Paul Gross are all listed as possible guest directors.
