Tuesday's Gone; 2013-14 Season Preview
Liberty Television has announced that Tuesday's Gone starring Amanda Peet will return for it's 3rd season on September 16th as part of the Monday night 2 hour sit-com block.
The main storylines last season revolved around two love interests for Tuesday, Joey Savage (Jeff Fahey) and Stefan (Patrick Huard), the need for Roger and Bonnie to gain a little distance from hurricane Tuesday to save their marriage, and the rebellion of Tuesday's daughter Madison. In short the show continued with the primary pretense of a woman who while kind hearted and fun, refuses to grow up and accept responsibility.
The show's ratings began to turn around in November when new fans began to find the show compared to alternatives, and saw the show rise from a 0.8 rating to a 1.2 rating. The ratings low was actually in episode 6 which did a 0.8/2 2.95, and finished with a high in the season finale episode 22 with a 1.2/3 3.49. As can be ascertained from the ratings the show's growth was entirely in the right demo for strong ratings. The show finished with a 1.0 average demo in the Monday 9:30pm timeslot following Night Shift which finished with an average of 1.27 demo, holding 79% of the audience.
The competition in the slot was Dancing with the Stars and the Bachelor on ABC, Mike and Molly on CBS, Gossip Girl and 90210 on CW, the Mob Doctor and the Following on FOX, and the Voice and Biggest Loser on NBC. Night Shift and Tuesday's Gone did about half the demo ratings as CBS' 2 Broke Girls and Mike and Molly, which if Liberty was honest they would tell you was a good year.
Going forward in 2013-14 the show will compete on ABC still with DWTS, CBS has new sit-com Mom (follows 2 Broke Girls), CW has Beauty and the Beast, FOX counters with Sleepy Hollow and the Following, and NBC continues with the Voice. Like it is for Night Shift the competitive landscape remains pretty much the same but there is always a chance that if Mom slips lower then Mike & Molly, then Tuesday's Gone can pick up some of that sit-com audience. Couple that with declining ratings for DWTS and the Voice and the network is optimist that ratings growth of 20% or more is a proper target for this season.
The show's storylines this year may seem a bit like last year's but will allow for the introduction of three new, strong, actors in a recurring roles. Jeremy Ratchford ("Cold Case") plays Cass, a night club manager and former radio executive who has the exciting fun filled lifestyle that Tuesday craves and is drawn to; but he wants what Tuesday has in suburbia instead. With Roger and Bonnie having moved, but still regulars on the show, the new house owner next door is a self-confident divorcee named Dana played by Cole Hauser ("Chase", "Olympus Has Fallen"). Both these actors have signed on for at least until the end of November, and they and the producers will make a mutual decision on whether they will return based on fan reaction. The third man will be Bradley Whitford ("West Wing") playing Tuesday's new chauvanistic boss Mr. Danielson, and will begin a recurring role in January. Raymond J Barry ("Justified") will also drop in for more appearances as Tuesday's gambling addicted father, and there is also an effort to find an actor and write in a recurring role for Madison's birth father. Madison's rebellion and efforts to connect with her Father will continue this season as a story vehicle. The writers are also working on penning a dream episode where Tuesday see's herself in a 1960's office girl position; seen as a tribute to "Mad Men" that will prominently feature Bradley Whitford. Oh, and then there is the much anticipated episode where Tuesday (Amanda Peet) goes Blonde!
Behind the scenes Michael Keaton and Marlan Wayans are still listed as creators and executive producers but have little day to day involvement in the show. Michael Hanus continues as the Showrunner, while Michael Caleo, Dan Callahan, Adam Ellison, and Kim Wayans continue as writer/producers. Caleo and Wayans also join Robert Berlinger and John Fortenberry as episode directors. Guy Christie remains head writer.
The show has already received a full 22 episode order for the season from the network.

Tuesday's Gone; 2015-16 Season Preview
Liberty Television has announced that Tuesday's Gone starring Amanda Peet will return for its 5th season on Monday nights at 9:30pm EST.
The main storylines last year were Tuesday's relationship, engagement, and break-up with Dana, and Madison's friendship with the troubled Twyla.
The main story direction this year is Tuesday being back to a bachelorette, and finding friendship with a new neighbor who moves into Dana's house. Negotiations are underway to have Elisabeth Shue signed on as the neighbor who runs a questionable business out of her home, and likes to party with Tuesday. The other big story arc will have Twyla coming to live with Tuesday and Madison as her parents try to put their lives back together. Grandpa will continue to have a strong role on the show, and sister Marisol (Jennifer Garner) coming back for a Christmas visit. There is also going to be a strong push at the end of the year to have Tuesday end up moving into an more economical apartment for next season.
Last year in the same Monday 9:30pm slot the show saw an average rating of 1.52 making it Liberty TV's highest rated sit-com. This season the competition in the timeslot will be Dancing with the Stars (ABC), Scorpion (CBS), Jane the Virgin (CW), Minority Report (FOX), and The Voice (NBC). Other then the reality shows Tuesday's Gone stacks up quite well at this slot, as the only sit-com, and has a strong lead-in with Night Shift entering its 7th season. The competition is pretty much the same as last year except that FOX has moved the popular Sleepy Hollow to Thursday nights, and put the new show Minority Report in its place. Many critics believe that Tuesday's Gone while trying to fight going stale, did the right thing and avoided the "jump the shark" moment by not having the wedding go through last season. Industry observers believe that Tuesday's Gone should be able to hold onto his viewers this season, and may add more if the connection with Elisabeth Shue comes to fruition.
The show has received a 22-episode order from the network.

Tuesday's Gone; 2016-17 Season Preview
Liberty Television returns with a 6th year of the irrepressible Tuesday's Gone as Amanda Peet finds a new home, appropriately on Tuesdays at 8:30pm/7:30CST, following Night Shift and preceding Downbeats. The network is looking for a demo rating in the realm of 1.3-1.4.
Last season saw Tuesday's new friendship with a fellow wild child Trudy Q played by Elisabeth Shue and a new level of responsibility as Tuesday and Madison took in a troubled child Twyla. Roger and Bonnie and their expected entry into parenthood took a secondary role in the show as did Grandpa's continual quest for the fountain of youth.
The show has been pretty tight lipped with what they expect from season 6 especially since the rumors abound that this could be the final full season of the show. Elisabeth Shue returns but again there are rumors she is only signed on for a front 9 and negotiations continue on the back 13. Bonnie and Roger are due to once again take a bigger role in the show.
The Tuesday time slot competition sees rookie sit-com American Housewife on ABC (albeit with The Middle as a lead-in), and FOX also has sit-coms "New Girl" with "The Mick" stepping in mid-season. It is a well rounded set of competition with CBS having NCIS, CW "The Flash"", and NBC "The Voice". A little something for everyone in this timeslot, with Liberty hoping some of the viewers of The Middle and Brooklyn Nine-Nine will channel surf over to Liberty for 8:30 to add to the Night Shift lead-in numbers.
Behind the scenes, creative forces Michael Keaton and Marlon Wayans have little day to day interaction with the show, leaving that to newly promoted showrunner Michael Caleo who was sharing the duties with Michael Hanus who now exits the show. The rest of the principal crew remains intact including Kim Wayans. On the director front in addition to Michael Caleo and Kim Wayans, Robert Berlinger has exited, John Fortenberry is expected to pick up additional episodes as director, and Tim Kirkby has been added.
