High Achievers
60 min Drama
Creators/EP; Hart Hanson, Garry Campbell
Studios; Salter Street Production; Maple Star Entertainment
Starring; Aaron Landon, Jordan Fry, Dax Flame
Drama about four male college freshmen attending a prestigious college in the Northeastern United States that attracts students from all over the world. One of the feature products of the college is a software product that profiles incoming freshmen to match them up with roommates. While all four of the featured freshmen were outstanding students in high school they have varying degrees of success adjusting to the freedom and demands of college life. The show features characters with more realism then the polished, mature, and often too wise characters presented in other Hollywood productions. The writers attempt to do for college students what Freaks and Geeks did for high school students.
1.01 - "Frosh"
Tyson (Dax Flame) arrives at Horton from his prairie roots with a whole lot of ambition. His closest neighbours in the dorm are Jason (Jordan Fry) who is on a swimming and track scholarship, and Austin (Aaron Landon) a well off young man who brings his sports car with him, and has a hard time adjusting to life away from home. The three enjoy Frosh, try to meet some girls, and find out that the last room on their floor is going to be Mac, who hasn't shown up yet, but is rumoured to be a pot dealer. Austin gets drunk and is hit by a car, breaking his leg, and throwing his scholarship into doubt. Austin's Mom shows up unannounced to see how he is settling in, and she is the first one to meet Mac.
1.02 - "1 oh 1"
Tyson has a hard time figuring out whether his Economic professor's strange course requirements are a joke, and is too shy to ask. Mac begins to ply Jordan with painkillers, while Tyson and Austin try and ignore the drug use. The boys are pleased to find that their dorm rooms overlook the athletic practice field where the cheerleaders practice every morning.
1.03 - "Mac 2"
After his laptop is stolen from the cafeteria Tyson discovers how rampant theft is on campus, and confronts security who seem to refuse to do anything to curb it. Despite being in a leg cast, Jordan finds himself the first with a regular girlfriend, but he has to hide her from the dorm monitors, and begins to wonder if she is actually homeless and not a student. Mac shows up to his room, only its not Mac, its someone entirely different, freaking out the boys; until they find out it's Mac pulling a prank.
1.04 - "Mid-Terms"
Mid-Terms are the first big test of the boys academic ability as well as their friendships. While they study they take the opportunity to share a bit more about their back stories, including their high school grad embarrassments.
1.05 - "Forever"
Aaron finds some nude photos of one of their female classmates online, photos she thought she left behind, and accidently shares them. The pictures go viral and as she tracks down the source the other three boys stop talking to Aaron, not believing it was an accident. Mac begins to think he is being set up by the police, and takes steps to cover his tracks.
1.06 - "Embarrassment"
Tyson is infuriated, and embarrassed, when he is recruited for an "incel" group (men who hate women and are involuntarily celibate). Jordan starts to get a lot of embarrassing packages delivered from Amazon, and is not sure who is responsible. Mac meets a "townie" and opens the eyes of his friends about what the locals really think about the college kids.
1.07 - "Priorities"
Influenced by his latest girlfriend, Jordan decides to switch his major from Finance to liberal Arts, a fact he also wants to hide from his parents. Tyson begins to realize that all the groups that he was happy to join may be taking advantage of him as free labor. Mac gets news that his parents are getting divorced and falls into a deep, drug induced, funk.
1.08 - "Dream Team"
Tyson connives to put together the perfect team for a Finance project; a baritone voiced spokesman with a silver tongue, a computer and numbers wiz, himself for research and writing ability, and a beautiful blonde who is struggling in class but is nice to look at). However, the project goes off the rails when none of them are what they seem to be. Mac plays hooky to go home and confront his parents.
1.09 - "Team Work"
Tyson tries to recruit teammates for an intramural Lacrosse team with few takers, while his friends try and recruit him for a 48 hour Fortnite marathon.
1.10 - "Winter Finals"
As a storm rolls in knocking down power lines, the campus tries to also prepare for winter finals and then the holiday break.
