Hour #1
Opening Bout Kevin Northcutt defeated EZ Ryder by pinfall after a double underhook suplex at 5:04 **Ryder makes his return to RCW, and while he gives it his best shot, Northcutt just looks superior to him in the ring.
Bout #2 Tito Santana defeated Vance Nevada by pinfall after a flying forearm smash at 3:10 **Santana makes his RCW debut. The Latino star is extremely popular with fans (for some unknown reason) and makes short work of Nevada.
Bout #3 Brick Bronsky & Doug Flex (/w G.Q. Bronsky) and Robbie Royce & Elmwood Brawler battled to a double disqualification at 4:59 **For Bronsky it is a return to RCW, but now as a heel. He brings with him his fellow gym monster Doug Flex, and to top it off Brick's little cousin G.Q. was their manager/mouthpiece. Despite their size they had their hands full with Royce and Brawler and all four men ended up in a big melee that saw the record book tossed out the window, and then the match as well.
Bout #4 North American Women's Title Match Deep Blue defeated Barbie Wired by countout at 6:45 [Barbie Wired retained the North American Women's Title] **Wired may have finally met her match in the high flying DB. The fans like both women and reaction was mixed, but the challenger probably got a bit more support. In the end DB nailed a plancha on the champ, a move that thrilled the crowd. However the challenger made it back in the ring but the champ was slow to get up and was counted out.
Hour #2
Bout #5 RCW Tag Team Title Match The Extremists: Ace Darling & Devon Storm defeated Hysteria & Enigma by pinfall when Storm pinned Hysteria after a double team dropkick at 8:44 [Ace Darling & Devon Storm retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **fairly even match but the champs prevailed, pulling a double team out of the hat at the end. After the bout though Enigma was angry with Hysteria for taking the loss and after a shoving match, feigned a handshake, and instead attacked his partner.
Main Event RCW Television Title Match Best 2 out of 3 Falls Joe E. Legend defeated Ben Bassarab 2 falls to 1 [Joe E. Legend wins the RCW Television Title] **the first fall was fast paced, and Bassarab made a mistake charging to the buckle at the wrong time. Legend made him pay with his finisher. [Joe E. Legend wins the first fall by pinfall after the Legend cutter at 3:09] **the second fall was much slower and more methodical. Bassarab controlled most of it, and seeing the writing on the wall Legend took the opportunity outside the ring to nail Bassarab across the knee with a steel chair shot. He got himself disqualified so decided to continue chair shots to the leg, and landed a solid five more. By the end of the assault Bassarab was having problems standing. [Ben Bassarab wins the second fall by disqualification for use of a foreign object at 12:47] **Bassarab tried to give it a go in the third fall but couldn't even really support his own weight. Legend picked away at him and his bad knee. In the end he was easy pickings and the most decorated TV/Heritage champion in RCW history goes down in defeat. This ends Bassarab's unparalleled 6th title reign, and begin's Legend's first (and the 39th reign of this title). Bassarab was hurt and very mad about the way the loss went down. [Joe E. Legend defeated Ben Bassarab by submission to the figure-four leglock at 14:20]

River City Wrestling #686 August 9, 1997 Winnipeg, Manitoba
Tonight's show will feature an 8-Man #1 Contender Tournament, as well as a Heavyweight rematch featuring; Manny Silva vs Stan Lane
Opening Bout Quarter-Final #1 Non-Title Match Vendetta and Joe E. Legend battled to a double countout at 5:05 **the seething hatred for each other continued in this bout. Vendetta refers to Legend as a "first world problem". Legend's TV title was not on the line in this one, and Ben Bassarab is reported to be on the shelf now due to the knee injury he sustained from Legend's chair shots. The double countout assures the winner of the next bout a bye to the final (after a long rest).
Bout #2 Quarter-Final #2 Tito Santana defeated Kevin Northcutt by pinfall after a running forearm smash at 4:47 **Santana controlled early, but soon Northcutt took the bout over and punished the Latin star. The experienced grappler though took advantage of Northcutt dropping his head too soon for a back body drop, and Santana made him pay with a knee lift, then a back body drop of his own, and then his patented finisher. Unhappy with the loss though Northcutt attacked Santana from behind after the bout, and tossed him head first into the ringpost, busting him wide open. We'll see what kind of shape Santana is in for the final.
Bout #3 Quarter-Final #3 Koko B. Ware defeated Craig Pittman by pinfall after the ghostbuster at 6:11 **two newcomers to RCW. Real hard fought match. Ware looked more like the serious athlete Sweet Brown Sugar then he did the Birdman. Pittman is a bulldog and tried his best to keep Ware in close so take away any agility he still had in his 40 year old body. Despite that Ware showed a great ground game and ended up beating Pittman at his own game.
Bout #4 Quarter-Final #4 Bobby Duncum Jr defeated EZ Ryder by pinfall after a flying bulldog at 3:06 **Duncum follows in his father's footsteps and comes to RCW. Bobby Sr of course is a former RCW Tag Team champion. Ryder has had a tough time since coming back to RCW and was overwhelmed by the size and ferocity of Duncum's attack. For the record though, the fans don't think any higher of Jr then they did of Sr.
Hour #2
Bout #5 Semi-Final Bobby Duncum Jr defeated Koko B. Ware by pinfall after a flying bulldog at 4:13 **with only about an 8 minute rest between matches Duncum had to be happy about how fast he finished off Ryder, and then did virtually the same to Ware, a much higher level of opponent.
Bout #6 RCW Heavyweight Title Match Manny Silva defeated Stan Lane by pinfall after a wheelbarrow suplex at 7:15 [Manny Silva retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **he may have cheated at every turn, and risked DQ, but in the end Silva's victory was fairly clean. It looks like he is now past the former champ and ready to face tonight's tournament winner.
Main Event #1 Contender - Tournament Final Tito Santana defeated Bobby Duncum Jr by pinfall after a flying forearm smash at 8:52 -solid match that Duncum carried, heavy on psychology, light on flippity floppity action.

Hour #1
Opening Bout Kevin Northcutt defeated Koko B. Ware by pinfall after a double underhook piledriver at 6:05 **pretty much no jobber matches tonight, with an excellent opening bout. While Northcutt came away the winner we might get a rematch as the Birdman was not too happy with how Northcutt cheated his way to victory.
Bout #2 #1 Contenders Match Brick Bronsky & Doug Flex (/w G.Q. Bronsky) defeated Robbie Royce & Elmwood Brawler by pinfall when Flex pinned Royce after a double team powerbomb at 5:07 **while this was a rematch, it was pretty one-sided. In fact the only time the losers got any momentum going it was snuffed out by a timely trip by G.Q. The finisher was impressive as you had two muscle bound jocks lifting Royce into the air and slamming him to the mat together.
Bout #3 Hysteria and Enigma battled to a double countout at 4:44 **nothing was settled between these two former partners and luchadores.
Bout #4 North American Women's Title Match Best 2 out of 3 Falls Barbie Wired defeated Deep Blue 2 falls to 1 in 10:07 [Barbie Wired retained the North American Women's Title] **once again the fans were pretty much split between these two. DB was a better technician and has some high flying lucha moves, but Wired has a sort of underlying toughness and ferocity, without having to cheat. The first fall ended when Wired was able to nail her finisher, and it was starting to look like this could be a one-sided match. [Barbie Wired pinned Deep Blue after the Ape Hanger at 4:10] **the second fall started out all Wired but DB made a huge comeback. She ended up nailing her Frankensteiner out of thin-air. While the falls were tied 1-1, Wired had controlled most of the bout and DB was looking gassed. Fortunately for the challenger there was a longer then normal break before the third fall as it was going to have to conclude during the second half of the show. This bought her a nice 5 minute break. [Deep Blue pinned Barbie Wired after a frankensteiner at 7:16]
Hour #2
**Deep Blue took it right to the champ from the opening bell, and it began to look like the champ was lacking stamina. Wired made a short comeback but when DB took the bout over again she tried to take a short timeout on the floor. The challenger though decided to try and fly over the top rope with a plancha. Wired though had it well scouted and moved out of the way. DB wrecked herself on the floor and was counted out. [Barbie Wired defeated Deep Blue by countout at 10:07]
Bout #5 Streetfight - Non-Title Match Vendetta defeated Joe E. Legend by 10 count in a streetfight at 13:30 [Edited for TV] **It's been a few years since a match had to be edited for content. Vendetta wanted a piece of Legend, and demanded a streetfight. He even suggested that the TV title not be on the line, first because he believes it belongs to Ben Bassarab who will come and get it soon when he is healthy, and secondly because he wants Legend to be fighting for his life tonight, not to keep a title. It was an ominous challenge but one that Legend accepted. This match was of course out of control and spent more time out of the ring then in, and went into the stands. Both men were busted open by about the 5 minute mark. Vendetta nailed a DDT on the announce table but Legend was able to beat the 10 count. Legend responded with a trio of chair shots and then a Legend cutter, but Vendetta was up at the count of 9. However, at about the 9 minute mark Vendetta just took over the bout, using first the same dented steel chair used by Legend, then the ring bell, then he set up a table and slammed Legend from the ring apron through the table. Legend was out on his feet but instead of letting the ref count the 10 count he just kept punishing Legend. It was at this point with Legend wearing the proverbial crimson mask that we left the TV broadcast. The ref argued with Vendetta to let him count the 10 count but the Haitian refused. Brunzell finally came out with security (right after Vendetta DDT'd Legend through another table), and ordered security to restrain the Haitian. While they did that the ref counted a pretty fast 10 count (although this was obviously to just get it over with, as there was no way Legend was getting back up). Vendetta ended up getting the 10 count but didn't care as he tried to beat the ref's count and tossed around the 3 security guards, and when Brunzell got in his way he blasted him with a kick to the gut and a DDT. By now Vendetta's face was a mask of blood as well. Security took another approach now and instead of restraining Vendetta they removed Legend. Wild.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Tito Santana defeated Manny Silva by disqualification at 8:12 [Manny Silva retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **For every attack that Silva launched, the veteran Santana had an answer, and only had to expend half the energy. Silva became so frustrated that he decided to lock on a chokehold sleeper and refuse to break, until the ref disqualified him. After the bout Silva was up to old tricks trying to choke out Santana using the top and middle ropes. Koko B. Ware tried to come to Santana's aid but he was destroyed by the champ, as were Robbie Royce and the Elmwood Brawler. Finally all 3 of them along with security officers and Jim Brunzell managed to free Santana.

River City Wrestling #690 August 23, 1997 Winnipeg, Manitoba
Hour #1
At the top of the show commissioner Jim Brunzell came out to announce the fall out from the last show. For abusing security (and himself) Vendetta has been suspended for two months. As popular as he is Vendetta is the same as everyone else and has to be governed by the rule of the land. Manny Silva likewise has been fined and warned for his actions last week against Tito Santana. Another outburst like that and he will be suspended and stripped of his title. None of this was popular with the fans and for perhaps the first time in his RCW career Jumpin' Jimmy heard boos from the crowd.
Bout #1 Mistress Gloom defeated Oshean by disqualification for outside interference at 2:00 **Oshean, a low level adult film actress from the local area, has no business in a wrestling ring. She was outclassed and getting her silicon enhancements tossed around the ring, when Joe E. Legend showed up and attacked Gloom from behind. He hit her with a Legend cutter before sharing a long embrace with Oshean and fawning over her injuries.
Bout #2 Craig Pittman defeated EZ Ryder by submission to the code red (cross armbreaker) at 4:48 **Pittman gets a much needed victory. Ryder has slid down to jobber status.
Bout #3 Alexandra Beres defeated Pink Demon by pinfall after a sitout powerbomb at 3:36 **Beres has appeared in RCW before, in some of the all ladies events. By background she is a Hungarian born fitness star who won the 1996 Ms. Fitness World. She has some rudimentary skills in the ring, but is a natural athlete.
Bout #4 Hysteria defeated Enigma by pinfall after a Mexican Facebuster at 5:49 **great match featuring chain wrestling, competitors sliding in and out of the ring, using the ring apron as an extension of the ring instead of a boundary, and some planchas and topes. Hysteria nailed a corkscrew moonsault then a sitout inverted suplex slam (Mexican facebuster). After the bout Hysteria tried to remove the mask of Enigma but the villain was able to escape his clutches before that could happen.
Hour #2
Bout #5 RCW Television Title Match Robbie Royce defeated Joe E. Legend by countout at 5:21 [Joe E. Legend retained the RCW Television Title] **Legend was having a bit of a problem handling the two time RCW Tag Team champion, the champ seemed to come into the match over confident and cocky. Oshean appeared from the back to distract Royce with her bolt on's, which worked. So Mistress Gloom came out and smashed the trailer trash into the ring apron and chased her away. Legend left the ring and Gloom caught him with a kick to the crotch, then Royce nailed him with a double axhandle from the top buckle. Both men spilled to the mat, but Gloom rolled Royce back into the ring so that he would beat the count.
Bout #6 RCW Tag Team Title Match The Extremists: Ace Darling & Devon Storm and Brick Bronsky & Doug Flex (/w G.Q. Bronsky) battled to a no-contest at 6:25 [Ace Darling & Devon Storm retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **the strategy of the gym rats was pretty evident; don't worry about winning the titles tonight but try and hurt the champs and win in a rematch. Other then hurting the champs the rest of their plan was on target. The challengers did manage to exert their physical dominance in the battle outside the ring after the bout, and left the champs laying.
Main Event Tito Santana & Koko B Ware defeated Manny Silva & Kevin Northcutt by pinfall when Santana pinned Silva after a flying forearm smash at 9:38 **the surprise of the match wasn't necessarily the outcome but the fact that Silva took the fall. Northcutt spent a few minutes early playing Ricky Morton, but once the villains made a comeback they were able to handle both Santana and Ware. However, when the good guys got back to fast tags and double teams off the tags they took the match back over. Silva is known as the king of the double cross when it comes to tag teams so it was a bit refreshing to see Northcutt decide to refuse a tag at the end and allow a battered and surprised Silva to be taken out by Santana. Northcutt is proving to be a bit of a "tweener".

Hour #1
Opening Bout Brick Bronsky (/w G.Q. Bronsky) defeated Ace Darling by pinfall after a powerslam at 4:45 **one half of the tag challengers beating one half of the tag champions in an effort to reestablish as top contenders. The win came thanks to a timely trip from G.Q. Bronsky.
Bout #2 Devon Storm defeated Doug Flex by pinfall after a 5 star splash at 3:48 **The other half of that tag team matchup. Flex came out with G.Q. Bronsky too, but Jim Brunzell came out and ordered the manager to the back. He showed Flex paperwork that G.Q. was only listed as a manager for Brick, and that if he was going to appear with Flex in singles action he would need to reapply. This seemed to throw off the muscular Flex, and Storm showed off his wrestling ability and his high flying moves.
Bout #3 Hysteria defeated Craig Pittman by pinfall after the Mexican facebuster at 6:13 **a match to determine the pecking order in the challenger ranks, and the luchadore came out on top.
Bout #4 Mixed-Tag Team Match Robbie Royce & Mistress Gloom defeated Joe E. Legend & Oshean by pinfall when Gloom pinned Legend after a piledriver at 6:50 **Oshean was the weak link, by a mile. Legend made the mistake of tagging her in once when Gloom was weakened, but she tried to pick up Gloom and went crashing down with the bigger lady on top of her. Legend had to make the save and that was the last time Oshean saw the inside of the ring. That made Legend pretty easy pickings. The end was significant though as it was the female Gloom picking up the win on Legend.
Hour #2
Bout #5 Kevin Northcutt and Bobby Duncum Jr battled to a double countout at 5:53 **interesting match between two guys kind of cut from the same cloth. Double tough, rulebreakers, but pretty much lone wolfs which makes them tweeners. In the end the two wouldn't budge an inch and were counted out brawling outside the ring.
Bout #6 North American Women's Title Match 4-Way Match Barbie Wired defeated Alexandra Beres, Deep Blue, & Catherine Nolan when she pinned Beres after the Ape Hanger at 7:16 [Barbie Wired retained the North American Women's Title] **always a tough task for a champ to defend her title in this sort of match, because she can lose it without being the one beaten. As such Wired was careful to stay in the ring at all times, not chasing other combatants as they brawled outside. And if she was tossed out of the ring she immediately slipped back inside. The end came after Wired saved Beres from a double team which was looking like a near fall, and then Wired and Beres formed an alliance and ended up tossing both Nolan and Blue out of the ring. As they looked at their opponents Wired gave Beres a nice pat on the back, and then took her out with a dragon legwhip. Wired nailed a snap suplex, then her finisher and just beat out Deep Blue breaking up the tag. Tough but valuable lesson taught to the newcomer Beres.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Manny Silva defeated Tito Santana by pinfall thanks to outside interference at 10:00 [Manny Silva retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **Silva controlled the first half of this bout and it looked like it was going to be a short night's work for the champ. But Tito fought back and slowly started to take over the match. Then we had a ref bump, and while he was knocked out Kevin Northcutt came to the ring with a steel chair. He wound up as if he was going to hit Silva, but the champ pulled Tito in the way. Northcutt stopped short, then shrugged his shoulders and ~waffled~ Tito. Silva kicked at the downed Tito until the ref woke up and then made the pin.
