River City Wrestling #573 June 3, 1995 Winnipeg, Manitoba
Opening Bout: Vance Nevada and Robbie Royce battled to a double countout at 8:21 **you don't usually get this much heat from an opening bout but these guys brought it early.
Bout #2 Sgt. Keywon Grant defeated Atomic Punk by submission to the cobra clutch at 6:07 **premiere of Grant, an African American drill Sargent. He fought a hard, straight forward style and had very little problem with Punk.
Bout #3 Dawn Whitham defeated Sandy Cummins by pinfall after a full nelson slam at 8:02 **good win for Whitham which keeps her at the top of the title picture.
Bout #4 Lance Storm defeated Jack O'Jugular by pinfall after a Northern lights suplex at 10:48 **Jugular fought a lacklustre and uninspired match, seemed more interested in jawing with the fans then wrestling.
Bout #5 #1 Contenders Match Chris Jericho defeated Ben Bassarab by countout at 18:20 **perhaps the best match of the year so far in RCW! It started with a handshake and some hesitant exchanges. Bassarab worked a series of wristlocks which Jericho tried to twist and somersault out of. Jericho took over the match and worked a series of bodyscissors. About five minutes in this mach then picked up steam. We had a series of both men coming off the ropes, lots of reversals, etc. Jericho managed to nail a powerslam, then went to work on the back of Bassarab. While the moves were technically legal, they were more aggressive and so Bassarab fired back in kind. Jericho though managed to nail a spinebuster and then turn Bassarab over and lock in the Boston crab. Bassarab got to the ropes but Jericho clotheslined him over the top rope to the floor below. Things got heated as Jericho went after Bassarab to roll him back into the ring but it was reversed and Bassarab sent Jericho head first into the ring steps. Back inside Bassarab worked over the legs of Jericho, keeping him grounded, and then put on a figure four. Jericho got to the ropes for a break and then the two started to slug it out, losing their tempers. This was followed up by an exchange of suplexes, both men hitting about 3 or 4 different ones. Jericho then nailed a slingshot suplex, and tried to follow up with the lionsault but Bassarab pulled his legs up and thats what Jericho landed on. Bassarab hit four straight snap suplexes, but when he went for a diving headbutt Jericho moved out of the way. A crisscross off the ropes followed that up and it ended with both men colliding, and then both deciding to roll out of the ring to catch a breather. We were about 13 minutes into the match. They rolled back inside but soon the match spilled outside again, and this time they chose to fight it outside the ring. Jericho got the better of it, reversing a whip and sending Bassarab crashing into the steel barrier. Back inside Jericho went to work with a pair of spinning wheel kicks for a 2 count. He then nailed a Hurrancanrana but Bassarab managed to get a foot on the ropes. Jericho made the mistake though of taking it to the top and Bassarab pushed him off. Bassarab then pounced for his diving crossbodyblock but Jericho kind of caught him mid-air, the two tumbled into the ropes and both went over the top to the floor below. Jericho narrowly made it back inside the ring before the 10 count, while Bassarab did not. After some recovery time, the two put aside their differences with a handshake and embrace.
Bout #6 RCW Tag Team Title Match Turbo Eric Freedom & Chi Chi Cruz defeated Stan Baker & Jesse Hennig by countout at 9:26 [Baker & Hennig retained the RCW Tag Team Titles] **Freedom and Cruz were the underdogs and fought like it, over matched at times but feisty. However the match took a weird turn when Baker left the ring, standing on the apron and hot shotted Cruz throat first off the top rope. But Baker stumbled back and landed awkwardly on his left leg. He could not get up on his own and was counted out. Hennig helped him to the back.
Main Event STREET FIGHT RCW Heritage Title Match Nick Mercury defeated Sean Cassidy after a flying punch from the top buckle to outside the ring at 12:40 [Nick Mercury Retained the RCW Heritage Title] **solid match, but Mercury looked like a champion hell bent on holding on to his title while Cassidy looked desperate at times. The men fought inside and outside the ring with security accompanying them outside to keep them away as much as possible from fans as they fought into the stands. Several chair shots were exchanged and both men were busted wide open. Finally Mercury managed to come off the top rope, jumping down and nailing a fist to the head of Cassidy. A street fight can only be won by a count of 10 and Cassidy lay prone without moving throughout the full 10 count.

River City Wrestling #574 June 17, 1995 Winnipeg, Manitoba
Opening Bout Vance Nevada defeated Robbie Royce by pinfall after a top rope legdrop at 7:35 **last card they fought to a double countout
Bout #2 Sgt. Keywon Grant defeated Sean Cassidy by disqualification for use of a foreign object at 5:46 **quite a long brawl ensued between the two after the bout.
Bout #3 Eric Freedom & Chi Chi Cruz defeated The Indian Outlaws: Peter Strongbow & Johnny Aztec by pinfall when Cruz pinned Aztec after a running powerslam **after the bout it was announced that in last card's tag title match Stan Baker suffered a knee injury which will keep him on the shelf for several months. Therefore the tag titles are declared vacant, and a one night tag team tournament will be held here in Winnipeg on July 8th to crown new champions. Freedom & Cruz because of their win against the champs last card will be given a first round bye. The other six teams will face off with the winning three joining Freedom & Cruz in the semi-finals.
Bout #4 Lance Storm defeated Atomic Punk by pinfall after a Northern Lights Suplex at 4:23 **glorified squash match
Bout #5 Ben Bassarab and Jesse Hennig battled to a double countout at 17:56 **Bassarab probably has more classic matches in RCW then any other competitor all time. Two weeks after a great match with Jericho he put in another. This one was long, drawn out, full of psychology more then high octane offense. However, in the end both men ran out of gas and it ended with both on their knees gasping for air. In a strange turn of events, after the bout, after Bassarab had left Hennig went back to the ring and got the mic. He called Bassarab back and thanked him for a great match. It was a bad break losing the tag titles due to Baker's injury. But Hennig says he wants in the tournament and after that bout, and after Bassarab's career which has seen him hold more gold then any other RCW wrestler, Hennig says he wants only one man as his partner; Bassarab. It takes a bit of back and forth, but finally Bassarab says he has a lot of respect for the ability of Jesse's brother Curt, and respect for his Dad Larry. Because of that he will agree to tag with him.
Bout #6 North American Women's Title Pamela Principal defeated Dawn Whitham by pinfall after flying headscissors at 9:19 [Pamela Principal retained the North American Women's Title] **Sort of a big thing that a women's match would get semi-main event status. RCW though traditionally puts all title matches at the end of a card, unless there are special stipulations such as a street fight or cage match bout. However, even with that it shows the increased interest in women's wrestling in RCW. Whitham fought a hard bout and may have had better success if she wasn't so hell bent on cheating. Her own uncovering of the turnbuckle to expose steel (does this ever work out?) proved to be her undoing. In fairness she had Principal dead to rights in the full nelson and was rag dolling her. However, Principal was kicking her legs out, trying to flip up to get out of the move, and accidentally kicked the ref right in the head, knocking him out. After a few seconds Whitham gave up her hold to revive the ref. Principal though had recovered and much to the pleasure of the crowd countered Whitham's next attempt at a full nelson by sliding under and then sending her head first into the exposed turnbuckle. Whitham got up but Principal came off the second buckle with flying headscissors and was able to make the pin.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Chris Jericho defeated Stan Lane by disqualification for use of a foreign object at 12:10 [Stan Lane retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] **Lane controlled early, but once Jericho got the advantage he was like a younger, fitter version of Lane. The title seemed in doubt so Lane used a steel chair to get himself disqualified. The two continued to brawl for several minutes after the official decision.
