River City Wrestling #522
June 5, 1993
Brandon, Manitoba
RCW ventures away from the Winnipeg city limits for the first time since January 1st, a couple hours down the highway to the Brandon's Keystone Centre.
Opening Bout
El Diablo defeated The Psycho by pinfall after a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker at 4:21
-squash match, premiere of a masked wrestler from Mexico (a rare occurrence back then).
Bout #2
Sebastien Rikard & Lenny Thompson defeated Billy Two Eagles & Jerry Fury by pinfall when Thompson pinned Fury after a big boot to the face at 7:10
-fairly easy match for Rikard and Thompson who have been teaming for a while with some success but no real sniff at the title. Now the tag titles are being held by villains Sullivan & Nightstalker so it's not clear what is in store for this duo.
Bout #3
Super Destroyer 2001 (/w Nick Bockwinkel) defeated Mike Lozansky by pinfall after a flying clothesline from the 2nd buckle at 6:36
-Lozansky had his moments but SD was too big and powerful.
Bout #4
Ben Bassarab defeated Jerry Lynn by pinfall after a flying crossbody block at 15:29
-rematch of sorts to the match of the year from 1992, but this time Lynn comes in as a villain instead of the two both being fan favourites. Lynn showed no issues with cheating, but both men got into the act including biting, eye gouging, not to mention some great chain wrestlings and more suplexes then could be counted. In the end Lynn got cocky. He nailed Bassarab with the cradle piledriver finisher but instead of going to a pin attempt he wagged his finger no and climbed to the top. He decided to go for Bassarab's flying crossbody block finisher, but Bassarab rolled through it and slammed Lynn to the mat. Both men were down but Bassarab got up first, kicked Lynn in the gut, then nailed him with a cradle piledriver. For good measure he then climbed to the top and hit his own finisher the flying crossbody block and got the win.
Bout #5
North American Women's Title Match
Jacquelyn defeated Cynthia Rothrock by pinfall after a belly to back roll over cradle (and a handful of tights) at 12:14
[Jacquelyn Wins the North American Women's Title]
Rothrock started strong with her back to the ropes she managed to keep Jacquelyn (Jackie Moore) at bay with kicks and open hand strikes. However Jacquelyn managed to get by her defenses and take her down with a single leg. Jacquelyn then worked over the leg, specifically her plant leg to try and take away the power of her spinning heel kick finisher. Picking it up a notch the challenger got a 2 count after a slingshot suplex, and then another 2 count after a second rope splash. The champion though battled back with a knee to the midsection, then took some more punishment from closed fists, before she fought back fire with fire, punches to the head, then after creating some distance a pair of Savate kicks. The champ then punished the challenger by turning her over into a Boston crab but Jacquelyn managed to inch her way to the ropes to get the break. The challenger reversed a whip to the buckle, sent the champion in, followed her in, got behind her, vaulted off the second buckle and took Rothrock down with a big bulldog, and got a 2 count. Nobody has been able to handle Rothrock like this in a wrestling ring. The two traded a few short advantages of armbars, whips to the corner, clotheslines, that sort of thing. Finally Rothrock went for her spinning heel kick, but you could tell that plant leg was still not 100% and it was slow and clumsy. Jacquelyn ducked under, grabbing the leg from a crouch and delivered a gut punch to the champ, and then followed this up with a jumping DDT, for the 1, 2..kickout. Back on their feet and the challenger threw the champ with a release German suplex, both staggered up and then..BOOM...Jacquelyn nailed Rothrock with a spinning heel kick (the champ's own finisher, a move she has been touting for weeks now)..covered for 1, 2, KICKOUT!! Frustrated the challenger smacked the mat, then rolled up Rothrock for 1, grabbed the tights, 2, 3!! NEW CHAMPION!!
Bout #6
RCW Heritage Title Match
Baron von Raschke defeated Super Destroyer 2000 (/w Nick Bockwinkel) by submission to the clawhold at 5:42
[Baron von Raschke retained the RCW Heritage Title]
-this match was originally advertised as Vlad Petrov but Bockwinkel subbed in one of his Super Destroyers. Bockwinkel announced to the crowd that the Bockwinkel Talent Agency had fired Petrov and that his replacement had been hired and was backstage right now getting to know the boys. Raschke didn't seem impressed and he grabbed Bockwinkel by the neck and threw him over the top rope and out of the ring. SD attacked Raschke from behind and the ringbell sounded to start the bout. SD used his power to punish the champ for the first 4 minutes of this match, just relentless, and got 4 near falls. Finally Raschke battled back with an elbowsmash between the eyes, a headbutt, and then several kicks. This was followed by a pair of running clotheslines and then a thundering backbody drop. As SD got to his feet Raschke locked the clawhold on. Bockwinkel jumped onto the apron so Raschke went to eject him but got tangled up with the manager, and so SD attacked from behind, but the veteran Raschke moved out of the way! SD took out Bock and turned around again right into the clawhold. After a scant 10 seconds or so the challenger cried no mas.
Post-Match:
Immediately after the win Super Destroyer 2001 hit the ring to attack Raschke, but the German fought back...only to have the new member of the Talent Agency..the return of The Soultaker...come in and attack from behind. Soultaker pounded away at Raschke with help from the SD's. Soultaker had Raschke set up for a piledriver while the Super Destroyer 2001 was on top of the buckle. Brunzell and Blair hit the ring to clear out the Talent Agency, but not until after the stuffed piledriver was delivered. It took paramedics several minutes to check out Raschke before allowing him to get up under his own steam and walk out with the title belt.

RCW Heavyweight Title
Brian Blair defeated Manny Silva by reverse decision at 12:58
[Manny Silva retained the RCW Heavyweight Title]
Silva started the match with a series of kicks and punches, turnbuckle headsmashes, and a piledriver...and got an early 2 count. An abdominal stretch and a Boston crab worked the back of Blair and slowed the pace of the match. Frustrated Silva then worked a front facelock that he worked into a chokehold again and again. Unable to take it anymore Blair fought back with a chop to the throat of Silva, and then a double handed chokehold. Silva left the ring and Blair gave chase. The challenger smashed Silva's head off the ring apron and then threw him into the ringpost. Blair made a mistake though charging after Silva and wrecked himself into the post. Back inside the ring Silva nailed a strange 6 straight bodyslams, stopping only for a boot rake after each one. Silva continued to punish Blair for a couple minutes but couldn't put the match away, and then Blair made a comeback and nailed some dropkicks, Mexican armdrags, atomic drop, and then a moonsault for a 2 count. Silva though took the match back by going to the throat again. First it was hidden chokes, then more blatant. A chokeslam only got a 2 count, so then the champ hit his wheelbarrow finisher and got 1, 2...Blair got his foot on the ropes. Then Silva dropped Blair throat first on the top rope. Blair's hands went to his throat making him easy pickings for the champ to stomp away at him and then pick him up and deliver another wheelbarrow suplex. Silva moved in for the pin but before he could make the cover referee Jurgen Hermann called for the bell and the medics. Silva tried to close in and laid a couple more boots to Blair but then backed off as the medics came in to attend to Blair who was having problems breathing. Silva then threw both medics out of the ring and wrapped the top 2 strands around Blair's throat trying to choke him out. Jim Brunzell was first on the scene grabbing a steel chair on the way and ~waffled~ Silva in the head, and then turned his attention to helping Blair. Brunzell untangled his former partner from the ropes but by then Silva was recovered and smashed Brunzell in the back of the head. The ring started to fill with wrestlers though so Silva took a powder, grabbed his title belt and left. Jurgen Hermann announced that originally the decision was Silva won by referee decision - stoppage, but he has now reversed his decision due to Silva's actions and awarded the match to Blair. Cold comfort for Blair who looked rather purple.
