Notes (comments from the session follow in Green
American Dream (NBC) dramedy about the symbiotic relationship between network executives and the "talent" in a reality television series ORDERED TO SCRIPT BY NBC, MARISKA HARGITAY AS EP We love that Hargitay is attached, and we love that it is an "inside TV" show, but not enough to pay for a pilot based on that script
BAMFS (ABC) no details are available other than it is a high school comedy
Big in Japan (USA) (from USA's press release, May 2011) 20 years after their last concert ended in disaster and they never played again, the members of a popular boy band decide to reunite. ORDERED TO SCRIPT BY ABC, JAMIE TARSES AS EP Just keeping an eye on it because it reminds us of our show "Anthem"
Courtoom 302 (ABC) Courtroom 302 is the fascinating story of one year in Chicago's Cook County Criminal Courthouse, the busiest felony courthouse in the country. ORDERED TO SCRIPT BY ABC, MARK GORDON AS EP Every network needs a good legal thriller, should be an automatic 1.5 to 2.0 in the demo for us
Dark Tower, The (HBO) Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, ORDERED TO SCRIPT, BRIAN GRAZER AS EP Sounds like fun to watch, but a stretch for us Dave's Dead (FOX) comedy at the network billed as "shaun of the dead" meets "my name is earl" ORDERED TO SCRIPT, ELZABETH BANKS AS EP Love the concept, love Shaun of the Dead, but even with the comedy aspect added seems like an over crowded space ~ also Zombieland being proposed for Fox
Doc (HBO) drama about famed gambler/old west gunslinger Doc Holliday ORDERED TO SCRIPT Hard to put on Liberty when we have Wolf Point already on, but could be a good fit for eVo
Dope (HBO) drama series about a woman who re-enters her life after being away at the farm to treat her heroin addiction and becomes a private eye in 1950 new york ORDERED TO SCRIPT Love period pieces but not willing to stretch to pay for a pilot
Dracula (NBC) period drama about bram stoker's signature 1890s vampire, billed as a big, sweeping international soap opera that is young, sexy and supernatural ORDERED TO SCRIPT Dracula is a bit more classic then the modern day Vampires, but it might have trouble finding an audience. The youth audience is already taken and the mature audience might be a bit over "undeaded"
Eye,The (ABC) drama billed as a western with a paranormal twist set in 1871 arizona and centered on a team of pinkerton detectives who search for answers to unexplained phenomena ORDERED TO SCRIPT Keeping an eye on it because it sounds a lot like Wolf Point to us
Gunslinger (ABC) no details are available other than it is a western ORDERED TO SCRIPT Might be another option for eVo instead of Doc
Hyde (ABC) contemporary interpretation of robert louis stevenson's classic split-personality tale ORDERED TO SCRIPT Sounds a bit like out show "Split" except we do not actually mention Jeckyl and Hyde
In Like Fin (ABC) drama about an illusionist who is pulled into action in a covert government sting ORDERED TO SCRIPT Interesting concept but not willing to pay for a pilot
LA Noir (TNT) The Struggle for the Soul of America's Most Seductive City, which chronicles the epic battle between Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker and mobster Mickey Cohen. ORDERED TO PILOT BY TNT Sounds like a solid cable show for male orientated networks, so we might pick it up if TNT passes
Last Resort (ABC) thriller set in the near future when the country is very fractured and revolves around the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who become hunted after ignoring an order to shoot nuclear missiles ORDERED TO PILOT Fantastic cast. Hard to pass up if ABC does not pick it up, but looks to us like ABC will find it on their fall schedule
Lincoln Lawyer, The (ABC) small screen take on the recent matthew mcconaughey-led film, about a criminal defense attorney who does business from the back of a chauffeured town car ORDERED TO SCRIPT We already have a Michael Connelly pilot on order Hollywood RHD, and have worked with him in the past Crime Beat, so we may have to weight Hollywood RHD against this one if ABC passes
Low Winter Sun (AMC) drama based on the U.K. drama, a modern gothic tale of murder, high-level corruption, deception and cold-blooded revenge in which the difference between cop and criminal is anything but straightforward ORDERED TO SCRIPT Sounds like a solid story telling show, would be great on eVo, and easier to project how it will be since it is based on a UK drama
Nickel (FX) drama about an ex-con who uses a self-help book to inspire him to become a better criminal ORDERED TO SCRIPT Sounds like a solid addition to eVo if FX does not purse it
Port Royal (FX) 17th century period drama about the jamaican port's notorious rise as the richest and wickedest city in the new world, and as a self-governing safe haven for cutthroat pirates, corrupt politicians and ruthless merchants ORDERED TO SCRIPT As croweded as the undead space is right now on TV, the Pirates are not represented despite a high profile in pop culture and the POTC movies. Hard part is to make a good show on a decent budget without making it seem Xena Warrior Princess like cheezy. Of all the 3 pirate concepts floating around, this is the one we like the best.
Producer, The (CBS) period drama set in the fictional world of evening news ORDERED TO SCRIPT Like that it is an "inside story" but not willing to go to pilot. The real CBS news dept has an interesting history of its own
Punisher, The (FOX) drama featuring the marvel comics anti-hero frank castle, a rising star detective with the NYPD who moonlights as the vigilante Punisher, seeking justice for those the system has failed PUT PILOT ORDERED, ROB KIM AS EP We want to watch it, but dont want to go broke making it, so hopefully Fox picks it up and loses a bundle on it
Pyrates (FOX) gritty 17th century drama about the men and women who pulled off the largest heist on pirate history - the capture of the spanish silver fleet in 1628 ORDERED TO SCRIPT, RIDLEY SCOTT AS EP see Port Royal
Ralph Lamb (CBS) period drama about a cowboy-turned-las vegas sheriff in the '60s and '70s ORDERED TO PILOT, DENNIS QUAID, CARRIE ANNE MOSS Love the period element of the show, great cast, seems like CBS is pretty serious about it. Fits in great on CBS don't think we could afford it now that the talent is attached.
Republic of Pirates, The (NBC) period drama about the world's most notorious pirates as they forge their own rogue nation, called new providence, which became the first democracy in the americas ORDRED TO SCRIPT see Port Royal
Revolution (NBC) JJ Abrams, no details are available other than it is an epic adventure thriller drama which follows a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist ORDERED TO PILOT interested at first, but this whole energy ceased to exist high concept, is another confusing JJ Abrams concept that the viewer will wonder if it will ever pay off. Pass
Sector, The (Cinemax) A high-octane action-crime series in the vein of BLADE RUNNER/DISTRICT 9 which tracks the commander of a paramilitary unit who pursues a dangerous new race of genetically-enhanced humans. ORDERED TO SCRIPT, RIDLEY SCOTT AND TONY SCOTT AS EP Sounds interesting but not enough for an expensive pilot
Skinny Dip (HBO) drama about an heir-heiress pushed overboard on a yacht by her larcenous husband who fakes her death and plots revenge with a moody ex-cop ORDERED TO SCRIPT, MICHAEL KEATON AS EP Competing with our project Florida Crazy, both a Carl Hiassen project. Neither seems likely to make the light of day.
State of Mind (NBC) drama about a police forensic psychologist who helps solve the most mysterious homicide cases by getting into the minds of the victims, all while starting to lose his own ORDERED TO SCRIPT Wow does that ever sound like our show Manunter
TGIM (USA) A look at the surburban cul-de-sac over a weekend, where parents' lives are ruled by their children's schedules and the idea of going back to work on Mondy sounds better each passing minute. ORDERED TO SCRIPT Have loved the idea for a while now. Could dove tail in well with some of our existing comedies going for the 30-45 crowd. Should order a pilot.
Treasure Island (NBC) drama which postulates that robert louis stevenson's classic novel is based on real life events and characters and that manhattan is actually the legendary treasure island ORDERED TO SCRIPT great concept from the history, but we dont like the part of it taking place in modern day manhattan
~Untitled 1980's Wrestling Project~ (NBC) fictional drama set in the world of wrestling in the '80s PUT PILOT ORDERED, DWAYNE JOHNSON AND JERRY BRUCKHEIMER AS EP We have got to get out hands on this show. Its perfect for our demos, and we are willing to pay a premium to get a Bruckheimer project ~ finally. Let's go after this one.
~untitled Kal Penn Project~ (NBC) workplace comedy set at the united nations, with penn playing a key assistant to the u.s. ambassador ORDERED TO SCRIPT Would take a good look at it if they made a pilot
~untitled Sara Goodman project~ (Showtime) a provocative look at the relationship of young married couple who decide to explore an open marriage ORDERED TO SCRIPT Might be a good show for eVo fits in with American Gigilo, but might be a bit too much of the same thing. Better fit for Showtime.
Vinyl (Showtime) drama which explores every aspect of the music business through multiple vantage points - from the record executives and rock stars to the drug pushers and the prostitutes, from the stage to the boardroom to the DJ booth - in 1970s los angeles ORDERED TO SCRIPT Perfect fit for eVo we need to look at maybe getting a pilot done
We the Jury (USA) A single camera comedy that chronicles the lives of a group of jurors sequestered during a high profile celebrity murder trial. ORDERED TO SCRIPT love it, but not as a comedy, maybe a one hour dramedy
Wildwood (FOX) period drama about a wise-beyond-her-years teenager who poses as an adult in order to land a job at a popular bar on the jersey shore in 1985 PUT PILOT ORDERED Another time piece, kind of like out E.K. and our pilot Louie's Billards. If FOX passes we will take a good hard look at it
Zero Hour (ABC) drama about a skeptical everyman who gets swept up in one of history's greatest conspiracies: a spectacular mystery surrounding the Twelve Apostles ORDERED TO PILOT Hard to conceptualize, would like to take a look at the pilot if ABC passes, its the kind of depth show we could really use
Zombieland (FOX) small screen take on the 2009 feature of the same name ORDERED TO SCRIPT see Dave's Dead
