Based loosely on a character from Harlan Corben's "Fool Me Once". Maya is a recently discharged helicopter pilot who is trying to adjust to civilian life after a messy divorce, raising her young daughter on her own in the shadow of her rich husband's family, along with an eclectic group of civilian pilots who teach flight lessons. In contrast to the light hearted family and workplace humour Maya also finds herself struggling to deal with the boredom of civilian life and how "all the things that matter to other people don't matter to her, and all the things that matter to her don't matter to other people".
