As a joke her Dad bought Alda a tool set for her 10th birthday, not coincidentally that was the year after Alda's parents Adriano & Reyna had separated. Much to Adriano's delight and Reyna's horror Alda began a lifetime interest in things mechanical and then specifically heavy construction. Fast forward 15 years though and even Adriano isn't joking anymore as their daughter would rather drive a bulldozer then go for dinner with a man, would rather hang out with the boys after work then head to the mall to shop for shoes. Alda claims she does want a husband and kids but is having so much fun with her career right now that she can't bother to even think about dating; and her parents, both of whom have remarried, will just have to deal with it. A truce has been declared, but that doesn't mean that her parents will not still try to run her life, as if she didn't have enough to deal with at work with the chauvinist mind set of construction sites.
