Nola Hart; 2016-17 Season Preview
Liberty television today released its official season preview for their new mystery/suspense drama Nola Hart which will also contain many comedic elements and land somewhere on the lighter side of the spectrum of drama shows. Originally offered to ABC from 20th Century Fox it is seen by PLS Media (Liberty's parent) as a victim of the big networks' move to fully owned shows. In order to make the show financially feasible for 20th Century Fox the network has ordered a full 22 episode season which will premiere on October 3rd after ceding its regular 8:00pm/9CST Wednesday slot to a double episode of Corvette Club the week before. Nola Hart will take a break after February to give its time slot to season 2 of Die Cast but will then return to finish its run mid-April and run through May sweeps.
Nola Hart is a drama about a woman who wakes up in an airport with complete amnesia and hires a dysfunctional father-son detective agency to find out who she is. When to her own surprise she shows near-genius detective skills, the guys hire the woman to help them as they take on her ever-deepening “missing person” case. But as each new discovery changes the picture of her, they all have to wonder who they’ll find at the end of the journey –and will they be sorry they looked?
The Wednesday 8:00pm time slot see's competition from The Goldbergs/Speechless (ABC), Survivor (CBS), Arrow (CW), Lethal Weapon (FOX), Blindspot (NBC). It's an interesting mix of shows with various moods, and looks like very stiff competition for a rookie show. Nola Hart has received comparisons to Blindspot in premise but is much lighter fare. There is a very good chance that this show will score well with an older demographic.

Nola Hart Season 1 episode guide
1.01 - "Pilot" (Oct 5/2016) 0.7/2 2.07 As Father and Son detectives Sam & Malcolm Doll close in on a runaway girl (Journey) at the San Diego airport, a young child wakes a sleeping woman in the arrival area who is disorientated and panicky because she can't remember what she is doing there ~ in fact she can't remember anything except for her name Nola Hart. The Doll's help Hart calm down but while doing so lose the tail of the girl they were searching for. The Dolls try and help Hart remember but when she is still a blank slate, they convince her that she is better off to let them take her to a white hat tech fiend they know (Jake Snead) who will search on her name and fingerprints then to go to the police where she would be a "reverse" missing person. On the way though they have to check in with Patricia McMaster the former sheriff and current child and social advocate who hired them on the runaway job. McMaster is not happy and gives the Dolls another clue to follow up on, a drug deal going down. The Dolls drop Hart off to work with Snead while their attempts to rescue Journey prove for naught as a shoot-out occurs and everyone scatters. Detective Carl Weathers (no, not that Carl Weathers) is really mad at the Dolls for screwing up his sting operation however he and the Dolls find they have to race back to Snead's when two gunmen show up to try and take out Nola Hart. Snead finds no information about Nola Hart which he finds extremely unusual.
1.02 - "Nola Heart" (Oct 12/2016) 0.6/2 1.74 As the Dolls work with Det. Weathers to track down Journey and the drug dealers, Nola works with Snead to discover not only who she is but why someone would want her dead. After a couple nights bunking with the Dolls, Hart gladly accepts an invitation to stay with McMaster. Snead's first real clue in regards to Hart's identity is when he discovers an old World War II fighter plane called "Nola Heart" which is mothballed at a military base. Snead ignores direction given by the Dolls to wait for them before checking it out and he takes McMaster and Hart into the path of danger. The Dolls find and rescue Journey and along with Weathers discover a full fledged human trafficking ring.
1.03 - "Matters of the Hart" The Dolls enlist Nola's help in solving an investigation into a predatory workshop for potential "pick-up-artists". Snead tries to figure out who has began to monitor his systems, and tries to link it to the mystery of Nola Hart.
1.04 - "Father Smith (1)" McMaster hires the Dolls to cross the border into Utah to infiltrate a Polygamy community and record footage to hand over to the FBI; and they once again enlist Nola's help in their charade. Snead is abducted by a group of masked men. Life on the farm brings back memories for Hart of a military upbringing, and of her Father who was perhaps an investigator himself.
1.05 - "Father Smith (2)" The Dolls have to race against time to escape from their cellar prison and rescue Nola from the clutches of Father Smith. Snead is tortured by the masked men as they ask about Nola; and are prepared to kill him until he is rescued by Det. Weathers. One of the masked men reports to "The Colonel" that Snead knows nothing, and there is nothing to worry about; however, displeased by Snead's escape the Colonel shoots the man. The Colonel makes a phone call and hires "Baba O'Reilly" to take out Nola Hart.
