River City Wrestling # 454
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Charlie Norris defeated the Nomad by pinfall at 3:50
Dan Denton & Timothy Flowers defeated Dough Boy & Shamus McMullen by pinfall at 4:25
Mason Thunder (/w Kelly St.Croix) defeated Tommy Jammer by pinfall after a Savate kick at 6:41
Joe Savoldi defeated the Tasmanian Devil (/w Sheik Lou Fabiano) by pinfall after a flying dropkick at 9:02
**a bit of an upset here as The Devil had looked very formidable in his prior matches. But the Devil and the Sheik attacked Savoldi after the match to assure a rematch.
RCW Heritage Title Match
Nightstalker (/w Nick Bockwinkel) defeated Jerry Lynn by pinfall after a powerbomb at 6:15
[Nightstalker retained the RCW Heritage title]
**Jerry Lynn actually fought a heck of a match despite the short duration and had the big man reeling. However, when he climbed to the top rope to try and finish off a prone champion, Nick Bockwinkel jumped up on the apron and in reaction Lynn dove on him, the two falling to the floor outside the ring. Although he took care of the manager, this gave the champ time to recover and he caught Lynn with a knee as he came through the ropes. A couple moves later and the champ retains.
Lethal Larry Cameron defeated Jim Brunzell by pinfall after a jumping clothesline at 5:18
**big win for Cameron and in decisive fashion. He managed to move out of the way of a Brunzell dropkick and then came right back with a jumping clothesline to beat the former champion.
RCW Tag Team Title Match
Texas Hangmen: Psycho & Killer and Ben Bassarab & Kid Gallahad battled to a no-contest at 7:38
[Texas Hangmen retained the RCW Tag Titles]
**the animosity between these two teams is through the charts. They could not contain themselves to inside the ring or to one on one, and finally the match was just thrown out.
Commissioner Baron von Raschke came out to declare that this feud needs to be settled next card here in Winnipeg, and says the two teams will meet in a Texas Tornado Bull rope match, where there can be no countout and no DQ, so a winner will be declared.
Raschke also announces that heavyweight champion Ricky Steamboat was hurt last month at the hands of Don Muraco and it looks like he will not be able to defend his title. Therefore unless Steamboat makes a recovery his belt will be forfeit and a champion will be determined via tournament at the St. Patrick's week card. Muraco comes out to complain saying that since he was the one that put Steamboat on the shelf the title should just be handed to him.
Main Event
Paul Orndorff defeated Don Muraco by disqualification at 15:03
**these two fought tooth and nail. In the end Muraco took the lazy way out hitting Orndorff with a chair to get the DQ, leaving him laying in his own blood. Grabbing a mic Muraco announced that he may have lost the battle but it will help him win the war, softening up Orndorff before the heavyweight title tournament. Muraco and Orndorff certainly have to be considered the favorites going into the tournament.
