Press Release: August 16/04
SAWF President Dale Kuentz announced that Shaun Koen had quit the group. Koen, along with the Segal family, was the primary booker and financial backer of the SAWF between the time Kuentz withdrew his support until recently when Kuentz rejoined. It will be a big loss to SAWF both inside the ring and backstage. Philosophical differences were cited by Kuentz and V.P. Selita Segal as to the reason for the departure. Koen had no comments for the press.
SAWF House Show
August 17th, 2004
Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Opening Match
Johnny Palazzio defeated Darren Dalton with a head-and-arm suplex at 4:13.
Interview:
Leif Edling came out, and the fans went crazy. Edling is showing his age a bit, but is still a bonafide big name in wrestling. He pledges his aid to Stohyer and Markus Dekker in fighting the forces of the "Green and Gold" as well as "A New Dawn".
Match #2:
"A New Dawn" member Mustafa Mersin defeated promising youngster Ultimo Wolf by submission with a standing leg split at 19:09.
Match #3:
Peregryne shocked the crowd with a big upset over Jesse Hennig by pinfall after a senton bomb at 12:04.
Post-Match:
Jesse Hennig attacked the masked American wrestler as he celebrated his big win. He then threw him out of the ring and used his bullrope to choke him and swing him around ringside. Finally "Sinister" Stan Baker came to the resuce and Hennig made for the hills.
Interview:
Stan Baker remains in the ring and challenges Hennig to a bullrope match next week.
Match #4:
Tempers got the better of Hiriwa Te Rangi & Red River Jack, and as a result this match ended in a double countout at 8:22.
Interview:
Dale Kuentz "welcomes" the Sheepherders to Africa, who are on their way to the SAWF with the SAWF tag titles that they won over in North America. He says a rematch is set-up for next week which will be a 3-way dance for the titles' Sheepherders v Moorhouse/Metalhead v Vakis/Royal.
Match #5:
Handi-Cap Match:
"A New Dawn" member Crimson Mask toys with the duo of Adam Faulkner & J.J. Extreme. The match ends suddenly when C.M. puts on a simple reverse chinlock and Faulkner taps out at 6:57.
Post-Match:
After berating his teamate who leaves as quick as he can, J.J. Extreme goes right after the much bigger Crimson Mask. He peppers in a few shots, but when he goes for a standing dropkick Mask just tosses him to the side. He then picks up Extreme and delivers a gorilla press slam followed by a chokeslam.
Interview:
Dale Kuentz brings out the newest Diva's in pro wrestling, Tina Rigdon and Nikki Jackson. They both come out in skimpy clothes and parade around the ring for an admiring crowd. Just when it becomes obvious that there is no real reason for the girls to be there, V.P. and co-owner Selita Segal comes to the ring with a pissed off look on her face. The 30's something Segal is a fine looker too, but is not "augmented" like Jackson or as toned as Rigdon. However, she looks pretty and classy in a blouse and short skirt. She complains about Kuentz' obvious efforts to inject T&A into the show. Kuentz says he is just listening to the fans and giving them what they want. When Segal says they have no reason to be there, Kuentz says he can rectify that by having them battle in an evening gown match next week. Segal looks disgusted and says fine, but then she gets to name a surprise referee for the match. Kuentz can do little but agree.
Match #6:
Stohyer v Duane Van Staden
If Stohyer wins then tonight's main event match between Frans Van der Heever & challenger Markus Dekker will be a title match.
Stohyer defeats Duane van Staden despite interference by Staden's fellow "Green & Gold" member Wyld Boer. Stohyer gets some help clearing Staden away by Leif Edling who then stays to watch over the rest of the match. Stohyer uses a double powerbomb to beat Staden at 10:45.
Match #7:
"Trikki" Nikki Dawson lives up to his name putting his feet on the middle strand to help pin Leon Groenewald following the Trik-A-Wirl Driver at 5:51.
Main Event
SAWF Heavyweight Title Match
Frans van der Heever defeats Markus Dekker by disqualification due to outside interference at 22:31.
Van Der Heever tried to take advantage of a ref bump by introducing a steel chair into the proceedings. He hammered Dekker with the chair and was trying to revive the ref. Leif Edling came down to the ring and picked up the steel chair. Van Der Heever got to his feet dragging the ref up with him, turned around, saw the chair shot coming and instinctively pulled the ref in the way. Edling nailed the ref with the chair and knocked him out cold. Edling brawled with Van Der Heever, who was soon joined by "Green and Gold" stablemates Duane van Staden & Wyld Boer. Edling was backed up Stohyer, and even 3 on 2 the good guys were holding their own. Dekker got to his feet and 3 on 3 they fought the Green & Gold out of the ring.
The referee was revived by SAWF officials but the last thing he remembered was the chairshot and so he disqualified Dekker for the interference.
SAWF House Show #2
August 23, 2004
Capetown, South Africa
Opening Bout:
Boss Strickland defeated Strutter by pinfall after nailing a frog splash at 12:04
Match #2:
"the Gateway" Al Bawaba ( a member of "A New Dawn") crushed black belt martial artist John Schoffner, finishing him off with a gorilla press slam at 6:46.
Interview:
V.P. Selita Segal comes to the ring with a mic. She calls out Lady Copp, the manager of Tiger Eksteen. Lady Copp comes out looking her usual "butch" self, and with her usual nasty look on her face. Segal seems to be baiting her, asking her questions about what she thinks of the newest Diva's in the SAWF Nikki Jackson and Tina Rigdon. At first Lady Copp just seems embarrased but soon enough she grows angry and gets into a mini-rant and refers to the divas as "sluts". Segal smiles and asks Copp if she would like to be the special guest referee for the Jackson-Rigdon evening gown match tonight. Copp gets a weird look on her face (a smile) and readily accepts.
Match #3:
Evening Gown Match
Special guest referee Lady Copp
Tina Rigdon v Nikki Jackson
Rigdon is very fit, and has excellent muscle tone, but neither her nor Jackson have any ring experience. Rigdon however is smart enough to kick off her high heels early and that gave her the initiative. It was pretty much a rolling around the ring, hair pulling catfight with Rigdon in control. However, Lady Copp used her foot to push over a discarded high heel to Jackson who used it to nail Rigdon in the head. Jackson went for the pin and most likely would have got the 3 count, but after 2 Lady Copp lifted Jackson to her feet by the hair and then nailed her with a DDT. Copp then scooped up Rigdon and brought her back down with an airplane spin into a flapjack. Neither dress ever got removed. She counted to 10 with neither women stirring and declared it a double countout after 5:13.
Match #4:
Return Match - Falls Count Anywhere
Hiriwa Te Rangi v Red River Jack
These two met last week and battled to a double countout. This is the return match between the MMA reality fighter from New Zealand and the Bruiser Brody tribute wrestler. The fans were solidly behind Te Rangi. The match went all around ringside with both men getting busted open. RRJ though stole the show with a few power moves and out wrestled his opponent, countering many of his attempted moves. RRJ used a running powerslam to set up the pinfall in the middle of the ring at 10:45.
Interview:
President Dale Kuentz comes out to the ring. He addressed V.P. Selita Segal who turned his Evening Gown Match into a fiasco. He laughs it off saying "well played". But since there was no pinfall this week the two divas would have to face off again next week, this time in a bikini armwrestling contest, and he would be the referee himself to make sure there was no monkey business.
Match #5:
Triangle Match - SAWF Tag Team Title Match
Sheepherder Jim Nancy & Victor Blood (/w Sheepherder Sexton Cage) (c)
v
Jayson Moorhouse & MetalHead
v
Lee Vakis & Robbie Royal
Nancy & Blood used their size and experience in this match and do a good job of controlling the tempo. But when the other two teams hook-up they take it to the air and bring the fans to their feet. Vakis gets MetalHead in his sleeperhold, perched on his opponent's back, only to have Moorhouse dropkick his own partner backward, landing in a pinning position. But before a 3 count could be finished the champs both entered the ring and Cage lent a hand by dragging Royal off the apron by his feet. Nancy & Blood ran rampant through the other 3 men in the ring, then set up MetalHead for a version of the doomsday device. Nancy pinned Metalhead despite not being the legal man at 12:50.
Match #6:
Bull-rope Match (must touch all 4 corners to win)
Sinister Stan Baker v Jesse Hennig
Being bigger and stronger Baker had control over much of this match. Hennig used eye gouges and shots to the groin to get what little offense in that he could. Then Hennig gained the advantage and wrapped the rope around Baker's neck, and climbed to the 2nd turnbuckle for extra leverage as he choked away. Hennig then left the ring, leaving Baker laying down, and streteched the length of the bull-rope between the two so it hung taut. He then signalled to the back and Boss Strickland ran in with a little chainsaw and hacked the roped in half with one easy cut. Hennig then went back into the ring and touched all 4 turnbuckles without the weighted burden of the over 300 pound Baker. Confused the referee called for the bell and declared this match a no-contest.
Post-Match:
In their furor Strickland and Hennig decided to take it out on Baker and began to lay the boots to him and choke and whip him with the two sections of rope. Baker however still managed to regain his feet and came right back at the duo who then fled for the backstage area.
Main Event
Six-Man Tag Match
"Green and Gold" Frans van der Heever, Wyld Boer, & Duane van Staden
v
Stohyer, Markus Dekker, & Leif Edling
Van Der Heever did his best to stay out of this match in the early going. The strategy was for Boer to use his size and strength to gain the advantage and then to have Staden use his technical ability to control and wear down the opponent. Dekker had some tough going early on, and so did Edling. Stohyer was growing impatient on the outside and soon began to lose his temper causing the referee to be distracted which is not a good thing for his partner at the mercy of the Green & Gold. The good guys though made the spirited comeback, only to face a fresh and experienced cheater in SAWF champion Frans van der Heever. The champ grounded Dekker and wore him down, but was unable to finish the match. Again the good guys made a spirited comeback and this time they were able to isolate Duane van Staden in the ring and worked him over. The end of the match came when Edling used a belly-to-belly suplex to set-up the pin on Staden at 22:43.
