The TV champion lost his cool and not only did he lay out Nord but in his frustration he also laid out Brunzell with a Jammer Slammer.
Texas Hangman Killer (/w Nick Bockwinkel) defeated Ben Bassarab by pinfall at 5:05
Ricky Steamboat defeated the Night Stalker by pinfall at 8:50

**the hugely popular Piper made short work of DWB, and then went over and kissed DWG
Steve Disalvo defeated Davey Boy Smith by disqualification at 8:31
**what a tough first round draw for both these men, and one of the tourney favorites would be out. In the heat of the brawl DBS grabbed a chair from under a fan and in old Stamped fashion waffled Disalvo over the head drawing the DQ
The Soultaker (/w Nick Bockwinkel) and Biff Wellington battled to a double countout at 4:45
**this match got heated real quick with Bockwinkel in the middle of it
Round 2
Texas Hangman Killer (/w Nick Bockwinkel) defeated Jim Brunzell by pinfall after a bulldog from the 2nd buckle at 7:46
**a combination of a sore neck from Jammer's attack and the work of the wiley Bockwinkel helped Killer to a big upset win
Don Muraco defeated Ricky Steamboat by pinfall after a piledriver at 12:23
**probably match of the night, with the two former foes facing off. Muraco offered a handshake to start things, but Steamboat refused. Muraco started fair and square but after some setbacks went after the ailing ribs of Steamboat. He kept going back to them and the tide of the battle changed every time. After a couple ribbreakers he tried to get a submission by holding the ribbreaker but Steamboat refused to give in. Finally Muraco nailed the piledriver and picked up the win.
Roddy Piper defeated John Nord by submission to the sleeperhold after 2:07
**even faster work this time out for Piper who looks fresh for the next round
Steve Disalvo defeated The Soultaker (/w Nick Bockwinkel) by countout at 11:59
**very tough contest with both men giving as good as they got. The match spilled outside where they took turns throwing each other around ringside until Disalvo slipped back in to beat the count ahead of the Soultaker
Round 3
Don Muraco defeated Texas Hangman Killer (/w Nick Bockwinkel) by pinfall after a spinebuster slam at 9:11
**Muraco controlled early then took some punishment. However, it was Bockwinkel's interference and referee distractions that looked like they were going to win the day, until Rowdy Roddy Piper came down to the ring and took out Bockwinkel with a series of running clotheslines. This distraction also gave Muraco a few needed seconds to recover, and he finished off Killer in quick fashion.
Steve Disalvo defeated Roddy Piper by pinfall after a piledriver at 8:02
**Nick Bockwinkel came down and got his revenge by passing Disalvo some brass knuckles and distracting the ref so he could use them.
Interview
Roddy Piper complains about Bockwinkel until commissioner Baron von Raschke comes out and tells Piper that if he comes back next week he'll be able to get his hands on Bockwinkel in a tag team match. Piper accepts.
Final
