~cast of characters~
Manuel Borges United States Ambassador to Belize
Portugese-American, who was given the easy assignment of US ambassador to Belize because the President mistakingly thought they spoke Portugese in Belize. In fact Manuel wondered why an embassy was needed at all until he arrived. His days are filled by his directive to work behind the scenes to keep the government corrupt, the people poor, and the CIA operatives that use the country as a launching pad for operations throughout the Carribean, Central and South America a secret. In the meantime he finds that Belize's neighbor Guatamela is very hungry to settle a border despute by annexing Belize. Oh, and his chief administrator is a local, left over from the days of the British, who also wants to take over the country again for the Commonwealth.
Joe Barber United States Ambassador to Samoa
A distant relative of the President of the United States, and the more distant he is the more it is to the President's liking. So Barber finds himself opening a brand new embassy in Samoa, which is located in Oceania. Within his first week Joe accidently poisons one of the two lifetime appointed high chiefs, throwing the country into turmoil and endangering Joe's life. The economy is also thrown for a loop when its #1 export an oil used in sexual lubricants goes the way of the Edsel when an American invents a better synthetic product. Furthermore, Joe finds out that the country idolizes its professional wrestlers, powerlifters, and Rugby players and if he has any hope of gaining acceptance he will have to pick one of those endeavors.
T.J. Overmeir US Ambassador to San Marino
Frat boy extrordinaire, and dysfunctional leader of the "Bones" secret society that the President belonged to in College. T.J. was in dire need of a job and blackmailed the President into giving him this plum job. The US maintains an embassy in San Marino, an independent Republic right in the middle of Italy, both as a symbolic gesture since it is the oldest constitutional republic still in existence, and to make sure that the Communists are not relected to power as they were from 1945-57. However, San Marino far from the threshold of Marxism is under a capitalist revolution of casinos in an effort to turn San Marino into the next Monaco. T.J. finds himself stuck between the San Marino mob (6 guys with guns) who alternate between wanting to make him rich with payoffs and wanting to kill him, and the Italian government who think of them as an embarrasment.
Daniel N. Hawthorne, President of these United States
A student of the classics ("Porky's", "Police Academy", and many Russ Myer films), with a don't say quit attitude (also known as being oblivious to the truth) who gained power while firmly affixed to strings on his back. The US President throws more knuckle balls for his advisors and country to pick out of the dirt then the Niekro brothers.
