"Schill" is a show created for TBA development by author Michael Crichton. The main character is Peter Schiller, a German born, American educated, genius with more doctorates then some third world countries. Schiller, or Schill as his "friends" call him, has the full resources of the American Right at his disposal as he jets around the globe waging war on what he describes as left wing conspiracy theories such as Global Warming.
This is the show and the character that you will love to hate...or hate to love.
"Its like Softcore porn for Republicans" - Judd Nelson
~cast~
Peter Schiller "Schill"....Judd Nelson
Kay Francis...Wealthy benefactor... Kyra Sedgwick
Liberty "Libby" Francis...Kay's daughter... Dakota Blue Richards
Benjamin White...another wealthy benefactor...Tim Reid
and introducing...
Natasha Valdez as "Mrs. Santos..Schill's assistant"
1.01 - "Pilot"
On their way to Brussels, Belgium, Schill isn't happy about taking along Libby, but as his assistant Mrs. Santos points out Libby is the daughter of his #1 benefactor the fabulously wealthy Kay Francis.
In the air Schill talks on the phone with a reporter, debunking several minor points the reporter had made in his analysis of the early warning system in place for tornadoes. As he hangs up he mutters "imbecile" to himself. Libby giggles, and when Schill asks what is so funny, she points out a flaw in what Schill had told the reporter. Schill gts grumpy, and says he knows that and apparently even a 10 year old girl knows it, but most science reporters have no clue, so lets keep that our little secret. Libby agrees, nodding, but then adds "I'm 11".
Back in New York we see a shady meeting between a politician and Benjamin White. The politician suggests that White hire a guy named Schill.
In Brussels we see a grumpy Schill trying to work on his blackberry while tagging along with Libby and Mrs. Santos sight seeing in the city. Schill comments that he is now running a daycare, to which both ladies give him a raspberry.
At a climate change confrence, Schill is on the stage with 3 other pointy head professors, the others being obvious believers in climate change. Schill amuses Libby by pretending to nod off as the others speak, and debate, but more or less all agree on the doom and gloom coming to mankind. Schill only wakes up once in a while to throw in a quick dissenting word or two. Then the moderator tries to wrap things up and Schill stands up saying he has a question or two for his esteemed colleagues.
First he asks one when the most recent ice age ended. The scientist replies we are just coming out of the last ice age. Schill pretends to roll this one around his head before looking out at the audience. He says not everyone here has six degrees (no pun intended), but I bet most of us would know that as one exits an ice age that it should get warmer.
Next he walks over and picks up a copy of a local paper from Kansas that another scientist was quoting from. "Worst tornados ever, warmest summer on record". Interesting stuff he says. He then asks the scientist when the coldest winter on record was, the wettest, and driest. He then repilies, 1953, 1887, and 1921 respectively. That's quite a variety of dates for a supposedly changing world. As for the tornadoes, Schill says the tornado band is commonly know to be moving north. So while they may have seen their wost tornadoes ever, the counties 80-120 KM south have seen a marked decrease in tornado activity.
Turning to the third scientist who is quite small, he puts him back by asking how tall he is. The scientist replies 5'6 but Schill chuckles and says 5'4" as opposed to himself at 6'0". But 200 years ago he tells the scientist he was average, not below average as he now is, and himself at 6'0 would have been seen as extremely tall. So man is changing all the time, adapting. Do you think a caveman could live in curent day Los Angeles with all the smog? He would die without medical help. Man continues to adapt, the earth continues to change, but more importantly it still continues to spin on its axis as it always has. He calls them a bunch of left wing fear mongers who believe scientists who put their temperature reading devices next to air conditioner vents.
With that he walks off the stage, takes a giggling Libby by the arm and exits a stunned audience.
1.02 - "Heavy and Crude"
Schill has to come to the intellectual and showman rescue of his main benefactor Kay Francis when her investment in the tar sands of Fort McMurray in Alberta Canada, is put at risk due to some negative press and protestors. Schill argues that although turning the tar sands heavy oil into energy emits 3 times as much greenhouse gas as light sweet crude, that the costs to the environment of a rich Arab world will be much higher, if alternative sources are not found. He draws up environmental impact projections of when the Arab sheik's eventually have to share the wealth and the people being to be consumers like Americans, as well as the economic impact of military conflicts between the west and the Arab world. Needless to say he does not win any friends in the Arab community.
While on the trip his path crosses once again with Libby, Kay's precosious and smart daughter, who tries to play match maker between her mom and Schill. This culminates in Libby confiding in Schill about her late father's physical abuse of both Kay and Libby.
Mrs. Santos is scooped off the street by some masked punks who rough her up before releasing her. They tell her that this was for her boss' spreading of hatred, and that if he continues to work for Kay Francis someone will die.
The leader of the thugs uses a cell phone to call Benjamin White in New York. They aren't Arabs at all, and he tells White that it went as planned but he doubts this will make Schill back off. White agrees and says we will have to take it to the next step.
1.03 - "Under the Caution Flag"
Schill returns from a speaking engagement, arguing environmental issues with Senatorial candidates in Alaska.
Still shook up from her abduction Mrs. Santos is given some time off by Schill and she goes home to Texas to visit her family. They are cold to her because of her work with Schill.
Libby gets lost in the woods behind her house and twists her ankle. Kay fears the worst and sends in a search party which eventually finds her.
Schill flies into Georgia where he will compete in a stock car race, in a small budget track, far from the glammer of NASCAR.
Schill's car has mechanical problems that results in it flipping.
He receives an anonymous phone call telling him that the abduction of Santos was a warning, this was an escalation, next time somebody will die if he continues to represent the fascist Kay Francis.
1.04 - "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing"
Schill and Kay decide to end their business relationship for a while after a meeting with the FBI garnered them more suspicion then sympathy. Not ones to ever lay down however, both Schill and Kay independently hire private investigators to get to the bottom of the threat. Neither is aware the other has hired an investigator and the two contractors clash. Kay has hired a professional security group but Schill saved some bucks by hiring an elderly gumshoe who is borderline senile.
Schill tries to talk Mrs. Santos into quitting, but she won't back down to bullies or to her family.
With time on his hands Schill finally agrees to fly to New York to meet with Benjamin White who wants to hire him, and has been chasing him for some time. Schill is careful as he sees White not as a political animal that he is used to dealing with but an economic animal who does anything for profit alone. White however is charming and persuasive at their dinner and gets on Schill's good side. Schill is not aware that it is White that is behind the abduction, and other threats.
