History
While for the most part the annual (and decade) awards have been recognized and celebrated by River City Wrestling, from the onset they are done by a quasi-independent organization. The awards committee first began as a collaboration between the wrestlers and a small RCW fan club. This committee would actually morph into the Hall of Fame committee, and the awards committee would become a subset of that group. The awards group is much larger and transient in nature than the more elite Hall of Fame committee.
In 2001 & 2002 the awards were not recognized on television, or any official RCW channel, as owner Jack Larkin struggled to define the new RCW and how the legacy fit into that vision. However, the committee continued to operate and post online and through other fan driven forums the results.
In 2002 the award committee did not consider the RingLords events as part of RCW, as its exact relationship was still murky.
