January 20, 1990 River City Wrestling #408
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Untelevised matches: Non-title: Bruise Brothers defeated Johnnie Stewart & Ron Ritchie by pinfall Davey Boy Smith defeated Reno Riggins by pinfall Sumu Hara defeated Timothy Flowers by pinfall Len Crazy Horse defeated Skull Mason by pinfall
Televised matches
Ricky Steamboat defeated Dan Denton by pinfall at 4:18 **The Dragon makes it clear that he is here in RCW to take the heavyweight title away from Dynamite Kid
Pat Brady & Brent Sampson defeated Jim Brunzell & Mike Powers by pinfall when Brady pinned Powers at 7:12 **Sampson clobbered Powers from the ring apron, and the legal man Brady made the pin with his feet on the ropes. The Windy City contingent pick up another tainted win and Jim Brunzell is sick and tired of it.
#1 Contenders Match Ben Bassarab & Biff Wellington defeated The Blackhearts (Matt & Brett Derringer) by disqualification for double teaming at 6:54 **After last week the Blackhearts had challenged Bassarab to find himself a partner and take them on. Not only did Bassarab reach out to his former Stampede mate Wellington but commish Baron Von Raschke made this a #1 contenders match. In the post match interview of Bassarab and Wellington the Blackhearts came back out to say that because it was a DQ from a trigger happy referee that it has not been settled yet, you can not win a #1 contenders match on a DQ. This brought out Baron von Raschke who told them that was nonsense, that was for title matches, and that they have only themselves to blame for cheating. Next week Raschke says that Bassarab and Wellington will have their title shot at the Bruise Brothers.
Main Event RCW TV Title Match Bobby Jaggers and Tommy Jammer battled to a double countout at 8:09 [Bobby Jaggers retained the RCW TV Title] **This match took a nasty turn early with tempers flaring. Jammer fell right into Jaggers trap and the two left the ring and battled into the crowd before being counted out. The brawl continued after the official decision and the dressing rooms had to empty to pull these two apart. During that melee the Blackhearts took the opportunity to jump Bassarab and Wellington as well.
