The other half of the broken English duo, Hangman Neil Guay, tells the Albertan crowd how Quebec should seperate from Canada to get away from the rednecks and oilriggers out here. He starts into how he is going to cripple Ben Bassarab but we are short on time and mercifully the interview is cut.

Highlites of former WWWF and RCW champion Bob Backlund set to Huey Lewis' hit single "Hip To Be Square". Backlund will be returning to the ring at the 7th Anniversary Spectacular to take on Steve Disalvo for the RCW Title.
[end of first hour]
Promo;
Marty Goldstein comes to the ring with two announcements.
First scanning through the roster and recent ring results, while Boris Zhukov and Steve Blackman for instance have both been impressive, a stronger and more solidified challenge needs to be made for Ben Bassarab at RCW's premiere event of the year, the 7th Anniversary spectacular. Therefore, he is naming tonight's match between The Destroyer and Chris Lyon as a #1 contenders match with the winner taking on Bassarab at the big card for the RCW TV Title.
Secondly, there is a lot riding on tonight's main event match which will be an RCW Heavyweight title defense between Strangler Steve Disalvo and challenger Hoss Funk. So a special guest referee has been named. That man will be none other then Bob Backlund!!
Pre-Match:
Hoss Funk comes to the ring. He says he wants to introduce RCW wrestling fans to his nephew J.J. Funk. J.J. comes to the ring wearing his black mask and carrying the family branding iron. Hoss says he's proud of his nephew and confident in his ability to beat anyone back in the dressing room. It's an open challenge and after about a minute of restless silence and jeers from the crowd, finally out comes The Longriders. The pair face off against the Funks, before Wild Bill accepts the challenge, and both Scott Hogg and Hoss are sent to the back.
Bout #5
J.J. Funk defeated Wild Bill Irwin by pinfall after hitting him with the branding iron at 7:04
-J.J. was outclassed by the power of Wild Bill but used enough cheating to stay alive until a chance presented itself to get away with using the branding iron on the head of Wild Bill undetected.
Promo:
Manny Silva is still despondent over his loss to Steve Blackman earlier tonight. He wants a rematch, says he'll kill eveyone if he doesn't get it, but then he says "pretty please".
Bout #6
#1 Challenger Match
The Destroyer defeated Chris Lyon by pinfall after a flying crucifix at 14:46
-yet another match between these two staples of River City Wrestling. RCW Heavyweight Title Match
Special guest referee: Bob Backlund
Strangler Steve Disalvo (/w Lisa Caress) defeated Hoss Funk by pinfall after a piledriver at 8:10
[Steve Disalvo retained the RCW Heavyweight Title]
-Disalvo beat Funk from pillar to post the first couple minutes of this match. The fans then got solidly behind Disalvo when Funk began to play chicken and waste time. This brought him into confrontation with Bob Backlund. Disalvo controlled Funk again but his attempts at both a DDT from the 2nd buckle and a piledriver were both blocked by Funk. Finally the former NWA champ changed the momentum when breaking out of a bearhug by gouging the eyes of the champ. Funk chopped him down like a tree and then went to work on his arm on the mat. His armbars and armbreakers were not enough to put Disalvo away though and when he changed tactics to go after the legs Disalvo was able to kick his way out of it. He blasted Funk with a few hard kicks and Funk countered with a "near" low blow. This again brought Funk into conflict with Backlund. This time though Backlund got into Funk's face as the two argued face to face.
J.J. Funk hit the ring using the distraction. He tried to attack Disalvo from behind with the branding iron but Disalvo saw it coming, blocked it, bodyslammed J.J., and then threw him over the top rope. Hoss went after Disalvo but the big champ caught him with a spear instead. He followed up with a bodyslam, DDT from the 2nd turnbuckle, and then his piledriver finisher.
Post-Match:
As Disalvo was presented with the belt he went nose to nose with Bob Backlund, his challenger on the 18th. J.J. and Hoss Funk then tried for some retribution but Backlund and Disalvo were too much and beat them away.
As the Funks withdrew up the rampway they had one more surprise waiting for them; the Longriders. The tag team champs beat the Funks back towards the ring as we went off air.
That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.
See ya next week!!

Disalvo though gets on the mic and says this is not enough of a warm-up for his title defense against Bob Backlund in 5 days at the 7th Anniversary Spectacular. He says send down another stiff and lets make this a handi-cap match. From the back comes Jeff Gillies. But the champ says this is still not enough of a challenge. He says send another one out, and out comes Justin McKay. Finally the champ is ready to proceed.
Opening Bout:

Non-Title
Steve Disalvo (/w Lisa Caress) defeated Raider, Jeff Gillies, and Justin McKay by pinfall when he pinned Raider after a piledriver at 3:33

Disalvo took Raider down with a DDT from the 2nd buckle but when he went for the pin the other two rushed in to break it up. That was a mistake though as Disalvo brutalized each with a running clothesline before throwing them out of the ring. He then hit Raider with a piledriver and made the pin.
Promo:
Bob Backlund came out and made sure everyone knew that he was not going to be as easy to beat as Disalvo's match just now. Bout #3
Moe Malone & Shawn Cummings defeated Boris Zhukov & Neil Guay by pinfall when Cummings pinned Guay after a sunset flip from the top rope at 7:40

Boris Zhukov returns to the ring. He says that he never got to choose his own partner, and that if he had a good communist partner instead of a capitalist then things would have worked out different. Bout #4
North American Women's Title Match
Misty Blue Simmes defeated Sherri Martel by pinfall after a Superfly at 6:44
[Simmes retains the North American Women's Title]
-hard fought match, with Martel wrestling very dirty. She also tried to suck up to the ref for favoritism but that didn't work. Simmes first big comeback ended when she tried to scoop slam Martel but her recently injured back couldn't hold up the weight. Martel though instead of capitalizing on the situation left the ring to jaw with the announcers who she overheard saying that "Simmes could not support Sherr's weight". This delay cost her as Simmes returned fire with fists in the ring, and then hit a nice flying clothesline, a pair of dropkicks, and a neckbreaker to place her in the right spot to hit the Superfly when Martel staggered to her feet.
Post-Match:
Martel rolled out of the ring, but as Simmes arm was raised in victory and she had the belt in the other hand, Martel rolled back into the ring and attacked Simmes from behind. She worked over the back with kneedrops and used the belt to whip her lower back as well.

-this match got out of control quickly and spilled out of the ring. Silva used Blackman's nunchucks to choke him, and Blackman later battled back with a chair shot. The match had already been thrown out. The two men continued to battle around the announce table before officials could break it up.
Post-Match:
Marty Goldstein came out as the officials were having a hard time keeping the two men apart. He told them to knock it off or they would be suspended. -Hoss acquitted himself quite well in this match, and although J.J. did allright when handed the advantage by Hoss, he couldn't seem to turn the tide himself and was the weak link of the two. Finally, J.J. tried to use the branding iron to get the win but was caught by referee Buddy Lane and disqualified.
Post-Match:
Despite the disqualification the Funks still held the advantage 2 on 1 on Scott Hogg because Irwin was knocked out with the branding iron. They managed to then subdue Scott and after dipping the iron in black ink they branded both brothers with the mark of the double cross.
