Alcatraz is from LOST and Fringe mastermind J.J. Abrams. The mystery-thriller stars Sarah Jones as detective Rebecca Madsen who is investigating a case connected to a prison inmate who died 30 years ago. Her investigation and connection to the prison leads her to work with an unlikely ally, comic book lover Dr. Diego 'Doc' Soto (played by Lost's Jorge Garcia), while a government agent named Emerson Hause (Sam Neil) tries to intervene and stop her investigation. As Madsen and Soto team up, the mystery of Alcatraz is revealed: inmates that were thought to be dead for years are roaming the streets of San Francisco, continuing their crimes from fifty years ago. As they look into the history of Alcatraz and government cover-ups, they discover that this one prisoner is just a small part of a bigger threat connected with the prison in Alcatraz.

A grieving Soto is shocked when Rebecca presumably returns from the dead. Soto overhears Rebecca arguing with Hauser about giving her the silver in her bloodstream, but she refuses to tell Soto any of the details. Hauser's funding is pulled and the project falls apart but he finds private funding to get things on the track again; all the players including Lucy return to the crew despite Hauser not telling them any of the details. Eddie Cappetta a '63 makes contact with Rebecca but when she makes the mistake of trusting him which puts Lucy's life in danger and into the hands of Harlan Simmons.

Hauser makes an unpopular decision when he hires a professional bounty hunter, Cole Wynters, to go after the '63's and it doesn't take him long to work outside the law. Rebecca goes to Lucy for help and information when she begins to feel side effects from the silver. Soto begins to act on the "life is too short" mantra by dating Nikki.

A convicted CPA who worked shady deals for the mob, is apparently still alive and swindling retirees in Atlantic City. At the age of 83, Soto and Rebecca think Wade will be an easy takedown but its anything but easy; however they find out that Wade knows a lot about what was going on the weeks before the island prison was closed for good.
