Gump Smith was given the nickname Gump by his parents to try and make him stand out because of his common surname. Gump never had a problem standing out, star quarterback in high school, marine corps, and then town sheriff for 10 years. However, when he uncovered corruption in the town hall but the charges didn't stick he was fired. His intention was to wait the two years, work around town as a handyman and campaign at the same time to boot out the corruption next time around. A funny thing began to happen though, Gump's business began to boom and he really enjoyed the work. Now with the elections looming Gump has to face his friends and family with the news that he won't be running for mayor.
