Before the night's matches started Brian Blair and Baron von Raschke came to the ring along with a familiar face Kenny Jay. Blair says due to the chaos of last week Commissioner Jim Brunzell is on bed rest at home as is referee Buddy Lane. So tonight Kenny "Sodbuster" Jay has been brought back as a second referee and will take Buddy Lane's spot in the rotation. Also, Blair says that tonight he has been signed to wrestle the young punk Jerry Lynn and teach him a thing or two about life. Raschke then says they haven't forgotten about the coward Kevin Sullivan either so tonight Sullivan should grab himself a partner and he and Rheingans will put the titles on the line to induce him...because cowards need to be induced...to fight.
Opening Bout Ben Bassarab defeated Dave Gobel by pinfall after a flying crossbody block at 2:53 -short squash match for Bassarab against the premiere of another curtain jerker from the local indy scene.
Bout #2 Animal Harpas defeated Mike Lozansky by submission with the Asiatic Spike at 5:29 -Lozansky started strong against the hairy Aussie mad man, but Harpas took over with a choke, double arm chokeslam, spinebuster slam, and then put on his finisher and made Lozansky cry uncle. After the bout Harpas continued to beat on Lozansky and threw him over the top rope for good measure.
Bout #3 Billy Two Eagles defeated The Psycho after a running kneesmash at 4:01 -Another glorified squash match. The Psycho may be crazy but he is not overly effective.
Bout #4 Jacquelyn defeated Jennifer Castles by pinfall after a spinning heel kick at 6:10 -the return of Jacquelyn (Jackie Moore - Sweet Brown Sugar) from Texas, this time as a heel against the premiere of Jennifer Castles, a young, tall lanky girl. Castles was all right but no match for the combination of athleticism, violence, and compact power of her opponent. Interesting was Jacqueline's choice of a new finisher, the spinning heel kick, which just happens to be North American Women's champion Cynthia Rothrock's finisher. In case there was any doubt as to it being a coincidence Jacqueline yelled at the crowd after the match that she was going to beat Rothrock and take her title using her own finisher.
Bout #5 Sebastien Rikard & Lenny Thompson defeated Jerry Fury & Eddie Watts by pinfall when Thompson pinned Watts after a big boot to the face at 7:35 -Fury and Eddie Watts (another local indy guy making his premiere) were overmatched in this bout.
Bout #6 Marla Duncan and Julie Ann Gerhard battled to a double countout at 5:17 -both girls come from a fitness background, so with neither being a good grappler this match degenerated into a brawl outside the ring that saw both counted out. But the girls looked good, so there's always that.
Bout #7 Jerry Lynn defeated Brian Blair after hitting him with brass knuckles at 12:01 -solid match worked at a fairly high pace. Blair's age showed a bit as he liked to slow things down with headlocks, headscissors, and an abdominal stretch. The match had its share of fisticuffs and spilled outside the ring on several occasions. For the most part referee Jurgen Hermann was willing to let them fight, knowing this was a bit of payback for the beat down on a fellow referee. In fact Hermann openly sided with Blair on several occasions. However, all that was to naught as their was a collision that sent Hermann to the mat. Blair picked up Lynn for an atomic drop but Lynn had fished out brass knux and nailed the skull of Blair, shook awake Hermann, and made the pin.
Bout #8 RCW Tag Team Title Match Kevin Sullivan & Nightstalker defeated Baron von Raschke & Brad Rheingans by pinfall when Nightstalker pinned Rheingans after a pumphandle powerslam at 9:23 [Sullivan & Nightstalker won the RCW Tag Team Titles] -Seemed like maybe a bit of a trap laid by Kevin Sullivan as he had a partner in the wings unknown to the champions. When Sullivan brought his big man back to RCW it seemed to throw his opponents right away. Raschke actually played Ricky Morton early on but then it was Sullivan's turn to take a beating. However, Nightstalker managed to catch Rheingans with a big clothesline, a shoulderblock from the 2nd buckle, a diving fist drop and then his finisher. Raschke tried to make the save but Sullivan had gone around the ring and managed to hold onto Raschke as he tried to enter the ring.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Manny Silva defeated Harley Tragger by disqualification for use of a foreign object at 16:24 [Manny Silva retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] Silva started strong by attacking Tragger as he entered the ring. He crotched him on the middle rope, choked him over the top rope, choked him with the tag rope, and then threw him over the top rope. Outside the ring Silva pumped shots into the skull of Tragger, then climbed onto the announce table and from the higher ground continued to punch away, and then bulldogged him to the ground below. Back inside Silva continued the attack with a series of choke holds, playing cat and mouse with referee Jurgen Hermann. A back body drop, snap suplex, float over for a 2 count! Silva then dragged Tragger by his long hair and smashed him head first into each buckle, 1, 2, 3, and Tragger put his foot on the middle buckle to block, and then sent Silva into the buckle. Tragger unleashed a series of shoulderblocks in the corner, and then some uppercuts. Silva managed to muscle Tragger between the ropes and both men spilled to the floor below. Both men used the announce table to steady themselves as they got up. Silva went for a kick, but Tragger countered by catching the foot, spinning Silva, and then clotheslining him. Tragger took a couple steps away and then followed up with a stiff legged boot into the face of the champ. Back inside Tragger worked a bearhug, then a pair of sidewalk slams. Tragger got a couple nearfalls after power moves, and then changed tactics and tried to wear the champ down again with another bearhug followed by an abdominal stretch and then a sleeperhold. Finally the champ was able to extricate himself from trouble by countering the sleeperhold with a jawbreaker. After shaking off the cobwebs the two men traded punches and kicks. Silva then nailed a spinebuster slam got the 1, put his feet on the middle ropes, 2...3...no, no...unbelievable but Hermann actually saw the feet on the ropes and calls for the match to continue. As Silva complains to Hermann he is nailed from behind by Tragger. The collision though also takes out Hermann, and all 3 men fall out of the ring. Silva is up first and grabs a steel chair. He swings at Tragger, but the biker ducks and Silva nails the ringpost...and drops the chair and shakes his arms violently up and down from the vibrations. While he is shaking like a chihuahua, Tragger picks up the steel chair and ~waffles~ Silva in the head. Silva keeters on one leg, and then falls backward..into the arms of Hermann. Unfortunately Hermann saw only the Tragger chair shot and calls for the bell and disqualifies the challenger. Not the best night for the referees.

River City Wrestling #521 May 22, 1993 Winnipeg, Manitoba
Opening Bout The Psycho pinned Dave Gobel by pinfall after a double underhook suplex at 3:23 -enhancement match
Bout #2 Six-Man Tag Match Vlad Petrov & The Super Destroyers (/w Nick Bockwinkel) defeated Mike Lozansky, Billy Two Eagles, and Eddie Watts by pinfall when Petrov pinned Watts after a Russian sickle at 5:06 -squash match with the Bockwinkel Talent Agency taking apart their opponents one at a time, like pulling wings off of flys.
Bout #3 Jacquelyn & Julie Ann Gerhard defeated Marla Duncan & Jennifer Castles by pinfall when Jaquelyn defeated Castles by pinfall after a spinning heel kick at 9:41 -good match, fairly even, but Castles was the weakest link, or maybe she had to handle most of the ring time due to Duncan's being so green. Either way it looked like Gerhard would finish off Castles after a German suplex. However, Jacquelyn tagged herself in off of Gerhard and when her partner complained she threw her over the top rope. Jacquelyn then nailed Castles with a spinning heel kick for good measure; it's obvious she is on a mission to take the belt from Cynthia Rothrock.
Bout #4 Ben Bassarab defeated Animal Harpas by pinfall after a flying crucifix at 10:57 -solid match with good ring psychology. Bassarab used a stick and move attack while Harpas desperately tried to keep up and get his hands on his smaller opponent. Once he did though Harpas used illegal chokes, rope burns, and even bites to inflict punishment. However, the end came when Harpas went for his Asiatic spike finisher but Bassarab countered with an armbar and then put on a flying/rolling crucifix ala the Destroyer to pick up the win.
Post-Match: Harpas attacked Bassarab, dragged him outside the ring and bloodied him with the ring bell before friendly wrestlers came out to break it up.
Bout #5 Brian Blair and Adrian Street battled to a double countout at 12:35 -special appearance being made by the "flamboyant" Street, his first ever appearance in Winnipeg for any promotion. The match went back and forth with lots of old school spots. In the end nothing was settled as the two ignored the refs instructions and just continued to brawl. They ended up brawling right to the back.
Bout #6 Coal Miner's Glove Match Jim Brunzell defeated Jerry Lynn by pinfall after hitting him with the Coal Miner's Glove at 9:24 -a strange but mainstay blow off match for RCW is the Coal Miner's Glove match. The heavy steel glove is hung on a pole above the top turnbuckle. It is the only foreign object allowed to be used in the match and once retrieved can be used, but retrieving and using the glove does not in itself give victory; a pinfall is still required. Brunzell was looking for revenge and the commissioner returned to the ring after a long absence. Lynn seemed a bit afraid of Brunzell, and wrestled desperate trying several times to get the glove before it was a good time. Brunzell pulled him down several times and paid out some punishment. For his part Brunzell seemed more concerned in inflicting damage then he did in winning the bout. However Lynn made a comeback thanks to a chop to the throat and then worked over Brunzell for a couple minutes. At one point Lynn went into his trunks, presumably for the brass knuckles he used last card only to have Brunzell hold onto his forearm to keep his hand down "there, and then delivered a scoop slam. The former High Flyer made his final comeback and after hitting his perfect flying dropkick put on the sleeperhold and put Lynn down. Brunzell then calmly climbed and retrieved the Coal Miner's Glove and waited until Lynn woke up, nailed him with a hard right, then lifted his head off the mat and nailed him a second time. Lynn was out cold and busted wide open. Brunzell covered for the win.
Bout #7 RCW Tag Team Title Match Kevin Sullivan & Nightstalker defeated Baron von Raschke & Brad Rheingans by pinfall when Sullivan pinned Rheingans after a kneebreaker at 11:15 [Sullivan & Nightstalker retained the RCW Tag Titles] -no element of surprise this time in the rematch as the former champs were prepared for the power of the Nightstalker. Even though he is no slouch the former champs pounced on Sullivan and isolated him for a long stretch in this match but could not put him away. Three times Nightstalker came in to break up pin attempts to keep the match alive. Once Nightstalker got tagged in he was dominant, and also fresh. It looked like the champs would easily retain the belts but once Sullivan was tagged in he was besieged again. The former champs mounted a comeback and Raschke took out Nightstalker which allowed Rheingans the chance to beat Sullivan one on one. However, after Sullivan blocked a suplex attempt he nailed a kneebreaker on Rheingans. He must have caught him "just so" because Rheingans crumpled in a heap grabbing his knee. There was no real kick out attempt as Sullivan made the pin. After the bout Raschke had to help Rheingans limp on one leg back to the dressing room.
Main Event RCW Heavyweight Title Match Manny Silva defeated Harley Tragger by pinfall after a wheelbarrow suplex at 20:21 [Manny Silva retained the RCW Heavyweight Title] -This match was an all out slobberknocker from the moment Silva stepped into the ring, with neither man waiting for the bell to sound. Lots of punches, kicks, accentuated with the occasional bodyslam, atomic drop, and elbowsmash (just to give the fists a break). Finally Silva slowed the action down with a standing side headlock, then down to the mat and a front facelock which he would slip into a choke until referee Jurgen Hermann called for a break. Tragger sent the champ to the ropes but he was still groggy and Silva knocked him on his butt. The champ then used the top ropes to lean on while he stomped away at Tragger. The champ then took the match outside and tossed Tragger around. Back inside the champ went for a piledriver but Tragger countered with a back body drop. Silva was on him again with an armbar, but this time Tragger was able to summon a response with some fists to the noggin. Tragger went on the offense with a series of boots that backed the champ into the buckle. Harley followed him in with an elbowsmash, laid in a couple more, and then came out with a spinning spinebuster slam, for a 2 count. Tragger tried for a figure-four but the champ kicked him off. The two then went through another series of trading kicks and punches as the fans settled in for what looked to be a war of attrition. Tragger grabbed the advantage and came off the top rope with a reverse mat slam, and covered for a 2 count. A waistlock suplex yielded another 2 count. Silva stopped the challenger in his tracks though with a backward mule kick to the groin, unseen by Hermann. After catching his breath Silva laid in a couple of forearm uppercuts, and then a clothesline, for a 1 count. Silva then tried to finish things with a hot shot, but only got another 1 count. Silva then went back on top of the challenger and put on a belly to belly wristlock which took the fans a bit to figure out what he was doing. Tragger had to not only break the hold but also try and keep from being pinned. Finally Silva rolled him over into an armbar. Growing bored of not getting the submission the champ then tried for a chokeslam suplex but again only got a 2 count. This time Tragger managed to escape out of the ring but the champ went right after him. Silva smashed the challenger's head off the ring table, but then Tragger lashed out with an elbow to the solar plexus. Tragger then returned the favor smashing the champ's head off the announce table, before taking the match back inside. Tragger whipped the champ to the ropes and rocked him with a flying clothesline. This was followed by a powerslam, but the pin attempt was too close to the ropes and Silva draped a foot over after the 2 count. Tragger pulled Silva up by the hair, but the champ retaliated with a headbutt to the chest again to the challenger. He then nailed a belly to belly suplex, then picked up Tragger from the mat and hit his finisher wheelbarrow suplex for the win.
